Ishigakijimakizzu is a café-style restaurant located inside the Yugurena Mall. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere; single women should feel comfortable eating here, and it makes a great place to stop for a bite to eat while shopping for souvenir gifts. The hand-made potato cakes with mince (made from top-quality Ishigaki beef), which are made to order, are particularly popular. Diners can also enjoy unique Yaeyama Soba noodles.

The Yomitan store is the flagship store of Okashigoten, which makes confectionery using local Okinawan ingredients; the most famous Okashigoten product is their “Original Purple Sweet-Potato Sweets.” Located in Yomitan Village on land that used to be sugar-cane fields, the Yomitan store is easily recognized from the huge flower-covered hat at the entrance. Inside, the store has a wide range of confectionery products created at the company’s own factory, made using typically Okinawan ingredients such as purple sweet-potatoes and brown sugar; these can be purchased in quantities as small as a single sweet. Okinawa Pref. Nahashi Kagamizu 150 Naha Airport Building 1F
The Airport Restaurant is located on the left-hand side of the first floor in the Arrivals building at Naha Airport. Although mainly intended for airport employees, non-employees are welcome to use the Restaurant, and many tourists eat there. Diners can enjoy classic Okinawa dishes such as Okinawa-style Soba Noodles, Chanpuru (a stir-fried dish), Champon (rice with fried vegetables, meat and eggs), etc. for very reasonable prices (around 600 yen).

Good food and a pleasant atmosphere. Took points off mostly because it’s definitely ‘airport food’ and under seasoned.

The restaurant’s signature dish is its hand-made “Ash Soba Noodles,” made with broth derived from the clear upper layer of water that has had rice straw ash dissolved in it. The rich-flavored dried bonito soup stock and thick hand-made noodles have remained largely unchanged since the restaurant was first established. Kishimoto Cafeteria is very popular with both tourists and locals.

Amazing noodles, one of the best ones I’ve tried in Japan. Meat is delusions. The prices are quite cheap 650 yen for large, 500 yen for small. Great local experience. Highly recommended.

Okinawa Main Areas

around-area-map

Let go of your image of a busy, ordered Japan and replace it with crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and relaxing folk music: You've arrived in Okinawa. A world away from the high intensity of Tokyo, Okinawans appear to live a laid-back beach life on this paradisiacal tropical island that lies in the middle of the East China Sea almost 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Japan's most southern tip. Home to a spattering of islands, prepare yourself to discover underwater caves, star-shaped sand, and an island culture sometimes unrecognizable from mainland Japan.
