- This somen nagashi restaurant is located at the Jigenji Temple Ruins, a historic site famous for its cherry blossoms. Guests can enjoy eating somen (thin wheat noodles) served in a fountain-like circular trough fed with cold artesian well water while listening to the sound of a river from mid March to the end of October. Around 60,000 people visit each year to enjoy this fixture of summer in Kagoshima. Somen nagashi is a regional variation of nagashi somen, which has a history dating back to the Edo period. Nagashi somen, which is served in straight troughs of flowing water, has been enjoyed as early as the Tenpo era (1831-1845) according to historical documents.

慈眼寺公園へ桜を見るために出向き、自然遊歩道を1周歩いている時にありました。 鹿児島では多くの場所で「そうめん流し」を見かけますので、鹿児島県人のソウルフードなのでしょうね。流れてはおらず、グルグル回るだけですが。 今回は両棒餅(じゃんぼもち)だけいただきました。 そうめん流し以外にも川魚料理や鰻もありました。 周辺はモミジが多いので紅葉の時期も良さそうなロケーションでした。

平日の昼時や休日の夕時は並びます。 駐車場は広いです。 4人掛けのテーブルが多いのでファミリーにいいのかなと思いました。

Have a great range of meals from soba, udon, curry, tempura. You also get free radish pickles. Good value and good service. I wish there was one in London!

色んな採れたての野菜を売っている。気さくなおばさんが，お薦めやら食べ方やら教えてくれる（大根，ネギ，豆腐，そしてのらぼう菜という野菜を初めて買いました）。そして値段も高くない。石倉を使った店舗は，見た目もいい感じで凄くいい店です。店の片側では，蕎麦も食べられるので，今度は食べてみよう。

鹿児島から指宿に向かう途中、ランチタイムとなり、谷山港の近くで看板を見つけ入店しました。１階が駐車場で２階が店舗となっています。うどんなどの麺類のほか、定食のメニューも豊富です。地元の方も多く、賑わっていました。肉そばを食しましたが、美味しく頂きました。

Over 100 active volcanoes across Kagoshima make it one of the Japan's most exciting prefectures. The prefectural capital, Kagoshima city, looks out to one of the prefecture’s most spectacular volcanoes, Sakurajima, an island of its own that can be visited and seen close up or admired from afar, with the promise of breathtaking sunsets complete with frequent puffs of smoke and ash. Down the Satsuma Peninsula, the most southerly part of mainland Japan, waterfalls, sand onsen, and fascinating history await, while Kagoshima's abundance of satsuma imo (sweet potato) provide a wholesome snack as well as one of Japan's favourite drinks - shochu.
