"A waterfall in Mukabaki Town, Nobeoka City. It is located along the Mukabaki River of Mt. Mukabaki which spans Mukabaki Town and Kitakata-machi Town. You can see a magnificent scene in which water falls down a distance of 77 meters through the cliffs made of oddly-shaped rocks. It has been selected as one of ""Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls""."

    Miyazaki Higashiusuki-gun Misatocho
This waterfall is situated along the 30-kilometer-long Oseri Valley on the upper reaches of the Mimi River. The 70-meter-high, three-tier waterfall flows amidst evergreen broad-leaved forest primarily consisting of oak trees. Nature paths, a campground, and river pool are located nearby, and on weekends this popular leisure spot bustles with large numbers of families with children. Five observatories have been placed along the walking path near the walls to make it easier to see it, and visitors can enjoy the differing views. In order to pass on the area's magnificent natural beauty to future generations, it has been designated a Green Zone Protected Area by the prefecture.

An unmissable highlight of Kyushu, Miyazaki prefecture satisfies nature lovers with its dramatic gorges cut out of rugged cliffs, leading into waterfalls and beaches of green-blue water popular among surfers. Takachiho Gorge in the north of the prefecture tells a tale of centuries-old Japanese mythology in a fantastic setting, allowing visitors to explore the waters by boat before heading up to the cave at the Awano Iwato Shrine, where the sun goddess was said to have hidden, plunging the world into darkness.
