    A gallery located inside Yufuin Station in Kawakita, Yufuin-cho, Yufu City. Making use of a hall also used as a waiting area inside the Arata Isozaki-designed building, the gallery exhibits paintings, photos, crafts, and other works of art. The station building also has a footbath area.

    Many people sitting there waiting for train at mid-day, and luggages are allowed to leave there, not like a Art Hall at all.

    A museum where visitors can enjoy the amazing and eye-deceiving world of trick 3D art, where flat pictures seem to leap out and different images appear depending on your position. The real fun comes from the exhibits which allow visitors to take pictures and become one with the artwork, such as rooms which use perspective to make a person look taller or shorter, and a flying carpet scene. Dogs which are carried at all times are also allowed in the museum. Closest station; JR Yufuin Station.

The facility also offers a 60-minute guided tour of the power plant and museum, giving visitors the chance to see the largest geothermal power plant in Japan.

    An art museum located on the grounds of the Sanso Murata in Yufuincho Yufu City, Oita Prefecture. The museum collects and displays artworks relating to music and music flows constantly throughout its halls. The stylish, bright white interior design is a must-see. Visitors can freely read some 1,000 books on music and painting in the library on the first and second floors. There is also a chocolate shop and café in the museum where visitors can enjoy a beverage with some chocolate or a slice of cake.

    A museum situated along Prefectural Route 216 in Kawakita, Yufuin-cho, Yufu City. The museum displays a diverse collection of vehicles and other items gathered by the owner over a 30-year span. 200 rare vintage motorcycles from Japan and around the world are displayed in the World Motorcycle History Hall. Visitors will find toys, posters, and other pop culture items dating to Japan’s bygone Showa period (1926-1989) in the Showa Retro Hall. Antiques from Europe and North America are on display in the Stained Glass and Antiques corner.

    Some 400 years ago, Yufuin is said to have been a paradise for Japan’s hidden Christians. The Yufuin Stained Glass Art Museum opened in 1996 in this town which has carried an air of the West since that time. The first truly dedicated stained glass art museum in Japan, the museum presents European stained glass by time period and region. The museum also offers visitors the chance to try stained glass-making for themselves. A 15-minute walk from Yufuin Station on the Kyudai Main Line.

    "This art museum, a 40-minute drive from the Kokonoe Interchange on the Oita Expressway, displays the works of Rikuro Okamoto, a Japanese artist who continues to be active in New York. Located in Coco Village, a highland resort which overlooks the five peaks of Mt. Aso and the Kuju Mountain Range, exhibits include sculptures such as the massive ""Moving Rock;"" and paintings such as the artist's ""Home Towners"" series which depicts Kokonoe and Aso. The museum has a novel design and was planned in collaboration with architect Kenji Murata."

    This automotive museum is located in Yufu City, Oita Prefecture. Inside a retro building, the museum preserves and displays vehicles from Japan, the United States, and Europe made between the beginning of the 20th century and the 1970s. The Showa Retro Corner area is particularly popular with older museum goers and contains vehicles of the same make and model as ones which famously appeared in Showa period (1926-1989) movies and television shows. The museum's shop displays over 1,000 rare miniature cars and sells Tomica and tin plate toys.

    由布院駅から徒歩20分ほど。駅前通りから分岐する参宮通りに大鳥居が立つ。 82年(景行天皇12年)創建。祭神は国常立尊、国狭槌尊、彦火火出見尊、彦波瀲武鸕鷀草葺不合尊、神倭磐余彦尊、神渟名川耳尊。6柱の神を祀ることから「六所宮」とも呼ばれる。池の石組みの上にある社殿は木造銅板葺きで本殿の柱は朱塗り。境内には1991年の台風で倒れた大杉の切株が安置されている。

    由布院駅から徒歩15分ほど。 康保年間(964-968年)創建の臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院。本尊は由布霊山観世音菩薩(秘仏-33年に一度開帳)。宇奈岐日女神社の旧別当。茅葺屋根の山門は元禄時代(1688-1704年)の建立で湯布院最古の木造建築。本堂・観音堂・庫裡は1994年の火災で焼失し、1997年に再建。境内のあちこちに苔生した石仏が佇んでいた。

    前回来た時には閉館日で隣の歴史資料館だけ見て帰った場所でした。入り口に入場券の販売機があります。入場券をスタッフに渡して閉館日だったことを話すと恐縮していました。ここの館長が韓国人の元々は研究者だったことは新聞か何かで読んだことがありましたが、資料収集の熱意はすごいと感じました。中もきれいで展示もよく整理されていると思いました。

A trip to Oita is tantamount to a long soak in the Beppu baths.
