    Kumamoto Pref. Kumamotoshihigashiku Hirogimachi 935-1
This municipal park around the perimeter of Lake Ezu has promenades and bike paths. It gets a lot of visitors, especially families who come for the array of facilities like a plaza fountain, a nature garden in Hiroki area, a kiddie pool in Suizenji area, and a wading pool in Kami-Ezu area.

Had great afternoon, i highly recommand renting a boat and enjoying a quick relaxing moment on the lake. Suizenji park is more formal, worth it if you are interested by history and culture.

    Kumamoto Pref. Kumamotoshichuouku Ninomaru Other
This park is on the grounds of Kumamoto Castle, and entry to its Ninomaru Park area is free. It has a towering camphor tree, the prefectural tree of Kumamoto, and gets crowded with visitors who come to see the cherry blossoms in spring and colorful leaves in the fall. A fee is required to enter the castle tower's gate. The park was severely damaged by 2016's Kumamoto Earthquake. Large parts were placed off-limits, so check to see the current status.

A vast green space with a baseball field, tennis courts, and other facilities, as well as a natural grass lawn and multipurpose square. A large playground completed in 2008 called the Higokko Jungle is highly popular and bustles with children on weekends. The stunning playground consists of over 150 large play items, including an observation deck modeled after the base of Kumamoto Castle, and a 30 meter long roller slide. There's also an array of safe, fun play equipment for toddlers to enjoy.

    Kumamoto Kumamoto-shi Kita-ku Tatsuda Yuge 1-1232
This park is situated along Prefectural Route 337. The grounds are known as one of the grave sites of Miyamoto Musashi, a famous swordsman who wielded two swords. The park also has a Japanese garden and teahouse and is also renowned for its Miyakirishima azaleas. A statue of Miyamoto Musashi wearing armor and a helmet stands in the square near the park entrance. Musashi spent his peak years as a swordsman in Kumamoto, and it is said he was buried here along the old Otsu Kaido highway, once used by feudal lords to move to the capital and back every other year as required by law, per his will, which stated he wished to watch over the lords of the domain even after death.

Kumamoto Areas

around-area-map

Kumamoto lies in the center of Kyushu, a calm prefecture perfect for easy strolls around the historic center and lazy evenings in the natural hot springs at Kurokawa Onsen. For a slightly more strenuous activity, head to Mount Aso, whose surrounding hills offer hiking opportunities aplenty with views over the active volcano.
