    A tourist farm where you can go fruit picking and take in a view of majestic Mt. Aso. In fall, the farm offers apple and grape picking and, from winter through spring, strawberry picking. Amazingly, fruit picking requires no advance reservation, is time unlimited, and all-you-can-eat. The farm makes use of organic cultivation techniques and grows its apples without pesticides, and its safe, healthy fruits are one of the reasons behind its popularity. The farm's cafe serves homemade apple pie, specially made jams, and soft serve ice cream with strawberries in it, making it an irresistible stop for sweets-lovers.

    A farm which was created by cultivating mountain forest by hand. In this acclaimed farm, you can enjoy all the bounties of Shiranui and Kyushu. The farm has a full array of facilities to delight children and adults, including a tourist farm where a variety of citrus fruits are grown; a factory which makes and processes citrus juices; the Valencia-kan, a restaurant with a view of expansive scenery which serves dishes made with local ingredients; and the Sevilla-kan, a beer restaurant which offers Fukuda Farm original craft beers. Here you can enjoy unique and special experiences offered no place else while taking in the sight of the vast sea off of Shiranui.

    This is a tourism farm located approximately 20 minutes by car from the JR Kami-Kumamoto Station, and only 30 minutes from the Kumamoto Castle. Here, one can enjoy picking mikan citrus and grapes, or purchase fruit from the direct sales store. The fruits that are harvested here include mikans, grapes, Japanese pears, persimmons, peaches, and strawberries. Visitors can also buy farm fresh eggs, go digging for bamboo shoots, or search for chestnuts. The cafe, Kawayuka, located in the farm serves dishes and desserts using the freshly picked fruits from the farm.

  • Minamiaso Iwashita Sanchi Strawberry Farm

    This strawberry farm is a five-minute drive from Minamiaso-Shirakawasuigen Station. The farm sprawls on land 500 meters above sea level and cultivates its strawberries using raised platforms built using wood from Aso. The farm makes use of plastic greenhouses, ensuring visitors can pick strawberries even in the middle of winter or on rainy days; the farm grows many varieties of strawberries, including Hinoshizuku, Benihoppe, and Oi C Berry. The farm offers two different strawberry picking courses which let you pick various strawberry varieties - a 60-minute, all-you-can-eat course; and a course in which you pick only the amount you can eat and pay based on how much you pick. As the farm is closed on days when it has no ripe, red berries for visitors to pick, it's a good idea to call the farm before you come to check.

    This mikan orange farm has been in operation for over 100 years. The farm cultivates some 2,500 mikan trees on its vast grounds utilizing organic, low agrichemical agriculture and without the use of any herbicides. The farm's navel and mikan oranges are of such high quality, they have been selected to be officially given as gifts to the imperial household since the Meiji period. In most years, the farm offers all-you-can-eat mikan orange picking from late September to early December. The farm also sells mikan orange soft serve ice cream made by blending frozen mikan oranges with vanilla ice cream, and machine- or hand-squeezed mikan orange juice.

    This blueberry farm sprawls at the foot of Mt. Aso's southern outer crater. Adjoining the Utase Camping Ground, here visitors can have fun picking blueberries. In most years, blueberry picking is offered from July through early September. The farm also grows some of its blueberries in greenhouses, and customers appreciate the fact that you can pick blueberries here even on rainy days. You can purchase the blueberries you pick to take home. The farm also sells soft serve ice cream and homemade jam made with blueberries.

    日本でオリーブといえば、小豆島が有名ですが、こちら天草でも少量ですが収穫があるようです。料理用のオリーブオイルだけでなく、化粧品などもあります。オリーブの種類により、オイルの味が違うこと、体験しました(テイスティングは有料です）。

    身近なレジャースポットとしておススメです。全国的なみかん産地だけに周囲の山々は美しい段々畑が望めます。有明海も目の前で潮騒を感じながらみかん狩りが出来る場所は近隣ではここだけではないでしょうか？みかん狩りの他にもぶどう狩り、バーバキュー、足湯が楽しめます。自宅用にみかんもおススメですが、お土産には案外ぶどうの方が「味が濃厚」と評判がいいようです。
