    Based on the concept of “evolution of life” this museum displays the progression of the evolution of life and the history of humans. There is much to see including a “kid’s museum” aimed at children of elementary school age and older with displays they can touch and learn about nature and history, and a Time-Travelling Room in which animatronic dinosaurs move inside a diorama. This is a museum that can be enjoyed by many generations.

    When I first visited the Museum in 2018, I was blown away by the Dinosaur exhibits. My biggest regret was that I could only spend an hour at the museum before heading to Kitakyushu Airport to catch...

    Surrounded by gorgeous nature and history, Riverwalk Kitakyushu is a facility with various functions including culture, art, information and commerce. Visitors can enjoy the open spaces of Ogura Castle, Murasaki River and Katsuyama Park while doing their shopping or going to the art museum or theater. The abundance of events makes people want to visit over and over again. The Riverwalk is approximately three minutes on foot from the JR Nishi-Kokura Station and approximately ten minutes from the JR Kokura Station.

    This is a municipal zoo located in Kitakyushu City. Using the natural forests and environment in its 10-hectare space, 500 animals of 100 varieties live there. It is divided into different themed areas such as grasslands or Madagascar, and the petting area has a range of activities including horse riding and animal feeding. Within the zoo’ zone there are also play areas and lawns for families to sit and enjoy a bento lunch box.

    初訪問です。宿舎は草木がたくさんのワイルド?な感じですが、ほったらかされっぱなし、という感じとは違うかなと思った。 所々に飼育員さんの、動物達への愛を感じる所がありました。

    Here at the TOTO Museum you can learn about the roots and history of TOTO Ltd. who played a role in Japan's modernization. Along with the culture and history surrounding plumbing from their founding to the present day you can see their thoughts behind the creation and evolution of their products. There are almost 1,000 displays to see and along with goods on display including toilets, baths, faucets, and Japan's first unit bathroom (according to JIS regulations), there is also a toilet for sumo wrestlers that you can actually sit on to compare the size and new products that are only sold overseas.

    What a great museum the Toto Museum was. I traveled to Kitakyushu mainly to visit this museum and it was the highlight of my weekend trip. I walked here from the train station, it was a bit far but...

    "At this park, created with the theme of ""get close to water, greenery and animals"", visitors can interact with nature such as plants and animals. In the green expanse visitors can enjoy a tropical biosphere and rose gardens, greenhouses, and kangaroo area. In the summer season the ""Jabujabu Pond"" offers water slides and rowing boats, and is a popular spot for children."

    We spent the day in the park and enjoyed our time in the butterfly museum as well as all the flowers and the kangaroos.

The museum regularly holds workshop's and exhibitions of art by local citizens, serving as a popular gathering space for area residents.

    リニューアルオープンして綺麗になった美術館。ルノワールやモネの絵画を見る事ができます。今年はスコットランド美術館展も開催される予定です。ここからの北九州の展望はとても素敵です。交通の便が悪いので、市街の方はタクシーでいく事をお勧めします。

    This is a large commercial complex located in Sunatsu, with an array of shops and facilities lined up together inside including consumer electronics, daily sundries, restaurants, and a movie theater. The symbol of the complex is a large Ferris wheel of height 60 meters and diameter of 50 meters, from which one can look out over Kokura. Of the 36 gondolas just two are transparent and visitors often form a line to use them. Events such as concerts and illuminations are held throughout the year, bringing in a lot of visitors.

The museum presents the history of modern industrialization, how Kitakyushu City overcame past pollution problems, and the current state of the global environment in an easy-to-understand manner. The museum facilities themselves include a variety of environmentally-friendly measures. The Kitakyushu Environment Museum is an excellent place to learn more about environmental issues. The museum’s distinctive semicircle structure is a domed theater modeled after the Earth. A five-minute walk from Space World Station.

    スペースワールド駅から近いです。北九州の環境の歴史について無料で学べます。夏休みの宿題に丁度良いです。

    友達に面白いよと勧められて、分館の和田誠展を見に行きました。本館は戸畑ですが、分館は小倉リバーウォーク内にあります。多才な方で、イラストレーター、グラフィックデザイナー、装丁家、映画監督、エッセイスト・・・彼の新たな一面も知り、一生についても知りました。

    A museum dedicated to literature located a 10-minute walk from JR Nishi-Kokura Station. The museum contains exhibits on numerous writers from the Kitakyushu area such as Ogai Mori and Fumiko Hayashi. The facility also regularly holds workshops, lectures, and other events. The museum sees not only many local visitors but literature fans from far and wide as well.

    北九州市立文学館に行ってみました。昔は北九州市立歴史博物館であったように思いますが、その頃は何回か訪れたことがあります。ステンドグラスがとても綺麗でした。北九州市内出身、謂れのある作家さんの多さに驚かされます。ミュージアムショップには今はなかなか入手出来ない作家さんの作品も入手出来ます。私は森鴎外の小倉日記などを購入しました。

    A multipurpose complex located a five-minute walk from JR Kokura Station. The complex was opened in April 1998 as the core facility of a project designed to promote imports in the Kitakyushu City area. There are corporate offices and showrooms; the Kitakyushu Trade and Investment One-Stop Service Center (KTI Center), which assists local companies in international business matters; a childrearing assistance center; the AIM Square commerce center; and a passport center. There are also rental conference rooms for business meetings and rental halls which can be used for training seminars.

    A museum in Koyanose 3-Chome. It's built over the former site of the Honjin, or hotel designated for use by lords, in Koyanose, a town that flourished as a post town along the Nagasaki Kaido Road. It houses the Michi-no-Kyodo Museum which displays materials related to Koyanose from the Edo period to the Showa period and the multi-purpose Koyanose-za Hall.

    友達と木屋瀬散歩をして、立ち寄りました。入場料は200円で、様々な資料をくれました。駐車場は少し歩いたところにあります。内部は撮影禁止です。季節がらお雛様たちが展示されており、木屋瀬の歴史などの展示物もありました。

    "A park located on 124-meter high Mt. Takato. It is believed that a castle was located here in the middle ages. Today, an observatory is located on top of the mountain, and visitors can see all the way to Wakato Bridge in the east and Mt. Sarakura to the south from here. In the evening, the nightscape of Tobata Ward unfurls directly below, a view which has been dubbed the ""Kappa's hidden treasure box"" and which has been selected for inclusion in the Japan Nightscape Heritage list. Cherry trees, azaleas, hydrangeas, and other seasonal plants bloom on the grounds throughout the year. In particular, more than 70 thousand hydrangeas have been planted on the grounds, and in June the park holds the Wakamatsu Hydrangea Festival, attracting large numbers of visitors. Another must-see event is the Himatsuri Gyoji held in July, in which a procession of people carrying torches slowly weave their way to the top of Mt. Takato."

    "Located an approximately 20-minute walk from the Ryotani Shucchojo-mae bus stop for the bus from Kokura Station bus center to Nishitetsu Bus Nakatani, this park with a bamboo theme is on the banks of the Oma River where fireflies fly in early summer. In the park with a promenade, there are about 150 types of bamboos and bamboo grasses including rare types such as ""Rakkyo yadake"" that swells like Japanese scallions and ""Kikkochioku"" with a tortoise shell pattern. You can deepen your knowledge about bamboo while having fun in the exhibition hall. Because there is limited parking, it is recommended to use public transportation."

    A summer season outdoor water park in Shiikoen, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City. It has an 88-meter long wave pool with four different patterns of waves, a 250-meter long lazy river with tunnels and waterfalls, a river rafting pool that you can ride down in your innertube, and a waterslide pool with three slides. There are several snack shops and cafes as well as nearly 6000 sunflowers that bloom by the pool side.

    The government-operated Yahata Steel Works, a registered World Heritage site, were founded in 1901. Still in operation today, the site’s facilities are not open to the public; however, visitors can come look at the exterior of the old head office building from this viewing space. A red brick structure with a dome located in the center of the roof, the former head office building was once the nerve center of the steelworks. Inside, informational panels and photographs present the history of the site; volunteers also serve as tour guides. A board near the entrance is provided for photographs. Space World Station is the closest station.

    A museum which collects and displays a wide variety of manga comics and related materials with a focus on manga artists connected to the Kitakyushu region. Dedicated to the three themes of seeing, reading, and drawing, the museum includes an exhibit on local manga artists and related projects, a library where visitors can browse some tens of thousands of volumes of manga, and educational spaces where manga drawing classes and lectures on manga are held.
