The ruins are of the Korokan guest house built during the Heian period and used for nearly 400 years to receive diplomatic visitors from China and Korea.     A museum in Noko, Nishi Ward, Fukuoka City. Exhibits include materials related to the Chikuzen Gokaura Cargo Ships which were based out of Hakata Bay and delivered goods throughout the country during the Edo period as well as Edo period Confucian scholar and Meinohama native Nanmei Kamei. The museum also features a diorama with an overhead view of Nokonoshima Island and Hakata Bay and other exhibits. From the museum's location atop a hill on Nokonoshima Island you can enjoy a great view looking out over Hakata Bay.
