A disaster prevention center located in Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City where visitors can learn all about disasters and how to deal with them. The center offers a reservation only simulated disaster course in which visitors can safely experience an earthquake, gale force winds, and a fire. Visitors can also go through fire and disaster drills offered for both children and adults.

With our children, aged 7, 10 and 13, we tried to visit this centre when we were in Fukuoka. When planning the trip, we tried to find if it was necessary to book the participation in the events...

around-area-map

The most northerly of Kyushu island’s prefectures, Fukuoka comprises castle towns, seaside parks, and Hakata ramen, one of Japan’s most famous noodle dishes. Whether due to its good location or its unique charm, the prefecture’s capital, Fukuoka city, has been voted one of the most desirable places to live in the country—a close-knit community, a thriving food scene, and accessible nature combine for irresistibly laid-back city vibes.
