It is an old house of Ito Denemon, who made a big fortune by running canon mines. Due to its location, it is not as touristic as Mojiko Retro, but it is absolutely worth visiting even spending one...

The museum is a memorial hall that introduces the life of Seicho Matsumoto, the Akutagawa Prize-winning author and master of mysteries, who is the pride of Kitakyushu City. 700 books of his works and a huge chronological table of his life are displayed in the exhibition room. The museum also has a recreation of a part of Seicho's home, including his study and storeroom, making it a must-see even if you are not a fan of his work.

It is a museum in memorial of a famous japanese writer matsumoto seicho, the problem is all the explanation in the museum is in japanese and because of that the museum is so low in visitors. Me and...

Built in 1909 when Moji Customs was inaugurated, this building with its impressive red brick exterior was used as a customs office building until the early Showa period (1912-1989). It also has an observation room with a panoramic view of the Kanmon Straits and Mojiko Retro.

Brick built Western styled building (built 1912), very reminiscent of the British Georgian period architecture. Although I would personally rank it after some of the equally impressive buildings...

The museum contains some 1,800 exhibits with a focus on items from the Pacific War, and visitors can view an actual Nakajima Ki-27 used for the former Imperial Japanese Army Air Force, and a Mitsubishi A6M Zero used by the former Japanese Imperial Navy. In addition to its permanent exhibition, the museum also regularly holds special exhibitions and events.

There is a tatami mat room which can be used for tea ceremony sessions as well as a Japanese style room with Japanese style seats where visitors can enjoy matcha powdered green tea. The garden itself, a pond strolling garden, offers visitors beautiful, seasonal scenery.

Here at the TOTO Museum you can learn about the roots and history of TOTO Ltd. who played a role in Japan's modernization. Along with the culture and history surrounding plumbing from their founding to the present day you can see their thoughts behind the creation and evolution of their products. There are almost 1,000 displays to see and along with goods on display including toilets, baths, faucets, and Japan's first unit bathroom (according to JIS regulations), there is also a toilet for sumo wrestlers that you can actually sit on to compare the size and new products that are only sold overseas.

This grand shrine is located about a 20-minute drive from Wakamiya Interchange on the Kyushu Expressway in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It consists of separate shrines to Tagorihime-no-kami, Tagitsuhime-no-kami, and Ichikishimahime-no-kami, respectively. These three goddesses, who are children of the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu-omikami, are referred to as the Munakata Sanjoshin. The grand shrine's grounds include a main shrine, each of the individual shrines, and the Shinhokan, which houses and exhibits 80,000 national treasures. There is also the Takamiya Saijo, an ancient ceremony site traditionally believed to be the place where the Munakata Sanjoshin descended to earth. The shrine serves as a venue for traditional Japanese wedding ceremonies. It also accepts requests for yakudoshibarai (exorcisms of unlucky years) and holds many events all year long.

Came here by private tour. The shrine is a combination of three Shinto shrines in Fukuoka, Japan. These are Hetsu-gu, Nakatsu-gu and Okitsu-gu. The main shrine is hetsu-gu, god for traffic safety...

Designed by representative Meiji architects Tatsuno Kingo and Kataoka Yasushi, this was constructed to be the Kyushu branch office of Nippon Life Insurance. The building with its roof featuring a dome, small tower and roof windows, and its characteristic red brick and white granite outer walls is an example of design that borrows from late 19th-century British style. It was designated a National Important Cultural Property in 1969 and ownership was transferred to Fukuoka City. It was used as a historical archive until 1990, then renovated and reopened in 1994 as the Red Brick Culture Center. The Fukuoka City Museum of Literature was established on the first floor as a general library, and gathers and provides a variety of information concerning literature.

    天神の繫華街エリアからほど近い場所にあります。名前の通り日本生命保険九州支店として竣工した建物で東京駅などの設計でしられる辰野金吾らによる建築です。規模は全然違いますが東京駅の雰囲気と似た感じがありますね。

The Kitakyushu Bank Retro Line “Shiokaze” runs from the Kyushu Railway History Museum to the Kanmon Straits Mekari, and travels four stations in around 15 minutes. A blue retro railcar with two engines and two passenger cars, one can travel easily back and forth between the Mojiko retro area and Mekari area. It takes two minutes to walk from JR Mojiko Station to the Kyushu Railway History Museum Station.

Takes you right to the top to Mekari area. Views are great and the underground tunnel (under the water) is about a 10 minute walk away.
