This is a vast urban park in Sanbashi Street, Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture, where various leisure facilities are gathered around a pond with a huge artificial waterfall flowing into it. A popular facility is Animal Land, with more than 90 species of animals such as lions, zebras, and pure white baboons. The park is a place for the entire family to enjoy all day with other facilities such as Playland, where you can enjoy large playground equipment such as a Ferris wheel and Merry-go-round, the garden plaza around the waterfall, a waterside walking plaza, and an adventure playground.

This is a base facility for the Muroto UNESCO Global Geopark. You should come here first when you visit the Geopark for the visitor center and information center. The Muroto UNESCO Global Geopark is introduced on a large screen at the Geo Theater using high resolution images. They also introduce goods and various hands-on programs.

Kochi Shimanto-shi Nakamurahonmachi 1-11

A shrine constructed in 1862 by volunteers to commemorate the Tosa Ichijo clan at the site of the Ichijo Family's mausoleum at the Nakamura Gosho Ruins on Mt. Komori. Historic sites related to the Ichijos on the grounds include Fujimi-no Goten ato (site of a wisteria viewing hall) and Kesho-no-Ido well. Every year from November 22 to 24, the grand Ichijo Taisai Festival is held across the city in their honor.

You’ll find this aquarium in the wonderfully scenic Katsurahama seashore in Kochi Prefecture. It has been around for over 70 years. Approximately 250 species of fish and marine wildlife can be found here, with a focus on rare fish and schools of Japanese lates that make their home in Tosa Bay. Visitors can also feed sea turtles and penguins, get close and personal with clownfish and doctorfish, watch a sea lion show, and enjoy several other activities and events throughout the year.

水族館ブームですが、小さいながら人気の水族館です。桂浜の五色の砂浜を望みながら、時々海獣の大きな鳴き声が響きます。

A shop in Aki Station on the Gomen-Nahari Line. It sells fresh vegetables picked in the eastern area, prepared items, and fresh fish. The shop is popular with the locals, offering an array of boxed lunches, locally made side dishes, and specialties like local sake and Uchiharano-yaki ware. Its bakery sells a large variety of items baked fresh daily, including their popular Eggplant Curry Buns; a favorite of folks of all ages, they feature eggplant, a local specialty. They also lend out bikes for free.

Yuing Shimanto is a tourist center located just across the Niida River after getting off the Kochi Expressway’s Shimantocho Chuo Interchange. It provides a toilet and a restaurant that is mainly used as the rest spot by tourists who have been driving a long time. The restaurant offers a number of dishes, and they have a morning breakfast buffet that the locals also love. They also sell specialty products from the Shimanto River basin. Try the freshly prepared onigiri rice balls made with Niida rice, also called “fragrant rice.”

This hot spring inn and day spa is located in Umaji, Umaji Village, Aki County. Its baths, which are fed by a sodium - hydrogen carbonate - chloride spring, are said to help with wounds, burns, rheumatism, and other conditions. Family baths are also available. Guests can also enjoy yuzu citrus baths during the winter solstice. The inn’s restaurant offers set meals and other items made with the delicious seasonal food of the land and the rivers, Kochi’s Tosa Jiro local chicken breed, yuzu citrus (one of the specialties of Umaji), and other ingredients. It also offers bungalows in addition to standard guest rooms.

宿泊しなくても立ち寄るだけでも大丈夫。レストランは意外とメニューが豊富で地元のものから一般的なものまであり、子供用もあります。敷地内に遊具もあり、河川敷もあり子供連れでも十分楽しめる場所です。

Canoekan (Canoe House) is a canoeing facility located on the middle reaches of the Shimanto River, around 20 minutes’ walk from JR Ekawasaki Station. This is a very popular spot, at which everyone—including beginners, children and senior citizens—can enjoy canoeing while experiencing the magnificent natural beauty of the Shimanto River. Canoekan also runs canoeing experience activities and canoe tours. There is a comprehensive range of facilities, including a café and a shop which sells local specialty products, as well as a camp site and log cabin accommodation, etc. Visitors can spend a whole day enjoying the Shimanto River.

日本バーベキュー協会及び地元四万十の行政主催のイベントに参加する為に2泊で訪問しました。綺麗に整備されたキャンプ場で、設備が整っています。当日はみぞれが降る様な寒さで、キャンプはせずに近くのホテルに宿泊しましたが、四万十川の横にありとても感じも良く、近くにスーパー、道の駅もあり不自由ありません。次回は夏場に行きたいと思います。

The Sadachinka Bridge, a typical “chinka”, or sinking bridge, able to sustain flooding on the lower parts of the Shimanto River, is the longest of the more than 40 so called sinking bridges on the Shimanto River boasting a length of 291.6 meters and a width of 4.2 meters. In order to prevent being washed away during high floods, these submersible bridges were built without railings. Visitors can enjoy the pleasant feeling of the cool breeze as they cross the bridge on foot with many tourists coming to visit throughout the year.

西土佐道の駅から少し四万十川上流にあります。車で５分かからないと思います。橋には駐車スペースがありませんので注意が必要です。短めの沈下橋なので河原に下りたり渡り切ったり楽しむことが出来ます。

This is a museum for the Kochi born manga artist Ryuichi Yokoyama. The playful museum displays original drawings of Yokoyama’s masterpiece “Fuku-chan,” has exhibits of rare collections, a reproduction of his studio, as well as a corner with a peephole and other trick arts.

This was the most unexpected and delightful place to visit in Kochi. If you are a fan of Manga and Anime it is a Greta place to visit to gain an insight for one of the places where it all started...

This museum is located in Kashiwagi, Kitagawa Village, Aki County. It features exhibits related to Nakaoka Shintaro, a samurai who played a major role in the Satsuma-Choshu Alliance alongside Sakamoto Ryoma. These exhibits include videos and panels on the life of Nakaoka as well as valuable historical artifacts. The museum also holds special exhibits about the Bakumatsu, the final years of the Edo period.

こんな片田舎に凛々しくたたずむ立派な資料館。幕末の志士として坂本龍馬が有名ですが、中岡慎太郎の生い立ちや業績を知れば知るほど彼がいてこその坂本龍馬だと知ることができました。

A drive-in restaurant on National Route 33 that connects Matsuyama and Kochi. They serve oden hot pots, soba noodles, and meal sets in a rural teahouse with an old-fashioned ambiance. Originally, this area was a rest stop for rickshaw pullers and travelers. The teahouse began selling rice cakes and sweets at the end of the Meiji period. Their oden hot pots eaten with sweet miso and grilled amego salmon skewers are famous, and their Japanese mugwort manju buns—a local favorite—often sell out quickly. Since its founding over 80 years ago, the shop's been a favorite of locals and travelers alike.

5年前、たまたま立ち寄って、購入したヨモギ入り焼き餅が美味しくて、再訪。やっぱり美味しい。安い！のんびりした雰囲気のドライブイン。ホッとできる場所です。

This history museum is located in Yoro, Tosashimizu City. It features exhibits about Nakahama Manjiro, also known as John Mung, a Tosa native known for being one of the first Japanese people to visit the United States. In addition to learning about the life of Nakahama from exhibits that utilize wall graphics and projections, visitors can also enjoy a number of other attractions including taking photos with trick art depicting the sea. The museum also features the restaurant Kaifu Shokudo.

This is a farm direct shop in Hidaka Village, Takaoka County, Kochi Prefecture offering fresh local produce, souvenirs, and more. The tourist information area also displays one of only three of the prefecture's replicas of the national treasure sword, Kondoso Kanto Tachi. They have a restaurant and a dining corner for some quick refreshment while out on a drive.

Former residence of the Teshimas, a Tosa Domain samurai family. It is the only structure in the old castle town retaining the architectural style typical of samurai dwellings. It was restored and designated as a Kochi City Tangible Cultural Property in 1996, and opened to the public as the Samurai House Museum in November of the same year. In addition to visiting the residence, one large parlor and one small parlor in the main house are available for rent.

大川筋武家屋敷資料館は、土佐藩の武士、旧寺嶋家の住宅でした。典型的な書院造りの主家と長屋門を忠実に復元しており，細部の金具や瓦など必見です。今では、城下で当時の武家の建築様式を残している唯一の建造物となっています。

The SEASIDE GALLERY is not hosted in a building. At this museum along the Irino Beach spreading in front of Kuroshio Nakamura Line’s Tosa Irino Station, nature and people as a whole are the “work.” Irino Beach is a vast sandy area about four kilometers long and 200 meters wide that has been chosen as one of Japan’s top beaches for its rich natural landscape. It hosts events like the “T-shirt art exhibition” where about 1,000 T-shirts are hung along the beach, and the “National Seaside Barefoot Marathon” where participants run barefoot across the sand.

GWに、Tシャツ展を見に。ビーチの砂もサラサラしていて、サーフィンをしている人がいたり、家族ではしゃいでいる人がいたり、とてもピースフルな時間が流れていました。ビーチの外には、出店が出ていたり、子供が走り回れる芝生があったり、ゆったり楽しく過ごせました。

This roadside station is located on the side of National Route 194 in Kashiki, Ino Town, Agawa County. It features accommodations offering views of the Niyodo River, a restaurant that offers cuisine made with seasonal local ingredients, a spa with medicinal baths and saunas, a gallery in a renovated storehouse, a farmer’s market, and more. Visitors can also try their hand at activities such as making Tosa Washi paper, weaving (reservation required), or canoeing the Niyodo River (reservation required).

こちらの施設に宿泊しながら併設のレストランで夕食と朝食をいただきました。びっくりするほど質の高いフレンチが堪能できます。地の素材を生かした、前菜からサラダ、スープ、しっとりとした乙女鯛に火の通り具合も完璧な牛肉のグリエ。願わくばデザートをもうひとつ頑張ってもらえたら完璧なフルコースでした。朝食も言うことなし。一泊二食つきで大変リーズナブル。遠いのですが再訪を決意しました。

This glass bottom boat is where you can take a trip under the sea and see the sights of Minokoshi with your clothes on. It is located in Ashizuri Uwakai National Park, and you can enjoy the marine ecology of Tatsukushi Marine Park. Under the influence of the warm Kuroshio current, you can enjoy the reef-building coral and the sea treasure trove inhabited by tropical fish. It operates at any time without reservations.

凄く綺麗な海でした。はじめは先にお客さんを連れた行ったばかりなので、1時間後と、言われましたが、なんとか都合を付けてくれて、30分待ちに成りました。余り高くはなかったです。１人15xx円端数忘れましたが、３ヵ所珊瑚郡を見せてもらいましたが、最後の珊瑚に感動的です天気も良く海もかなり綺麗に透き通っていました。

This roadside station is located on the side of National Route 197 in Funato Komiyadani, Tsuno Town, Takaoka County. Its shop offers local products and produce including the area’s famous tea leaves. 梼原に行く途中で寄りました。小さな家族連れなら必ず行って欲しい場所午前中運良ければ雲海が眺めれる絶景スポット子供が嬉しいのは天狗の入り口から滑るすべり台 300mぐらいありますかね？戻って来るのに足腰くる道の駅の野菜と工芸品も充実しておりパン屋も美味しかった。
