The origins of yubeshi, a sweet yuzu-citrus flavored steamed dumpling, is said to date back to the Ashikaga-period where it was a preserved food for warriors and high-class family celebrations. The shop first began when they made maru-yubeshi by hollowing a yuzu citrus and filling it with a mix of sugar, miso, rice flour and mochi flour before steaming it then presenting it to the then lord of the Saijo region, Matsudaira Sakyo. Along with their maru-yubeshi, which takes two to three months to make, they also offer other products such as a bite-size yubeshi baked covered in natural bamboo, and a yuneri made from boiling yuzu-citrus skins with sugar and soy sauce.
