Located on the approach avenue leading to Kotohira-gu Shrine, Konpira Udon is a long-established restaurant whose specialty is hand-made Sanuki Udon Noodles. What makes Sanuki Udon Noodles particularly enjoyable is the special way they are eaten, accompanied by specially-made soy sauce rather than dashi soup. A wide range of toppings and set meals are available. As a convenient place to enjoy the authentic taste of Sanuki Udon Noodles, Konpira Udon is very popular. The building in which the restaurant is located is over 100 years old and is a designated Cultural Property; diners can get a real sense of the past here.

Delicious, and customer with english communication But nothing special from other udon stores (chiken fries are a little bit salty)

Yamagoe Udon is an udon noodle restaurant founded in 1941 in Ayagawa Town, Ayauta County, Kagawa Prefecture, famous as the home of kamatama udon. Even during the week people are often waiting to get a table at this sought after restaurant. Kamatama udon was conceived when a regular customer came into the restaurant with an egg and ate it after mixing it with some hot udon noodles straight from the pot. Many people come for this great tasting dish of udon noodles made with the famous local waters, egg and specially made stock and soy sauce mixture all brought together in perfect harmony. The kamatamayama which is the kamatama udon topped with yam, is also popular. They also have a wide variety of toppings including tempura.

I went there by udon bus tour. It was around 10am in the morning but already lots of people were eating udon. Kamata udon was really taste. Fried mashed potato was also great.

The restaurant also shows films reflecting udon noodles of Kagawa Prefecture. The kamaage udon noodles with their smooth, chewy texture made with a strong broth go together perfectly with the dipping sauce flavored with dried young sardine. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of side dishes such as takikomi-gohan (boiled rice seasoned with soy sauce and mixed with meat or seafood and savory vegetables) and ohagi (rice balls coated with sweetened red beans, soybean flour or sesame). The spacious restaurant also has seating at the counter making it easy for people by themselves to stop by for something to eat.

This famous hand-made udon noodle restaurant located in Utazu-cho, Ayauta County in Kagawa Prefecture has been featured in many TV programs and travel magazines. It has many fans who come from in and outside the prefecture and it is known for having long queues. Based on the belief that udon must be made by treading with the feet over and over, the noodles, of which the restaurant is proud and created with just the right amount of treading, are superb with their gloss, flexibility and strong firmness. The flagship dish is Hiyaten Oroshi, a generously-portioned chilled udon bowl topped with two giant tempura prawns. It also sells udon to take home with you.

If you want to fancy and expensive for tourist people that would be works well. This is good enough clean restaurant as taste okay with expensive!

You’ll find this longstanding udon shop in Hanzan Town, Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture. It became famous for its self-service system in which customers pick their own green onions from the field and slicing them themselves. Nowadays, sliced green onions are included in the toppings corner. The udon is known for its supple and springy texture and traditional taste, which has remained unchanged for three generations. There’s “kama-tama udon” (udon with raw egg) and “kake-udon” served in a light broth. The soup stock and toppings are self-service.

This is the best udon I ever try Must come to enjoy Suggest to try cold udon with fly ebi add some ginger

Kagawa prefecture Marugame city Iino Town Toni 343-1
This self-service udon restaurant is located in Iino Town, Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture. The popular, traditionally handmade noodles are produced without machines and cut by hand. The simple ingredients lead to some crimping and twisting, which produces stretchy, springy noodles that go down well. The simple “kake-udon” and “bukkake-udon” features the smell of small dried sardines emanating from the broth, and the “Sanuki mochi pork series” and seasonal options are popular as well.

They knead udon by hand and it gives udon wonderful chewing texture. This stand is so popular among locals as the day I visited udon was almost sold out around 1 p.m. Seats are capable of less than...

You’ll find this popular udon shop near the Museo Marugame Hirai (Marugame Hirai Museum) in Doki Town, Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture. The noodle recipe was passed down from parent to child, and everything is done by hand, from the kneading of the dough to the stretching, cutting, and boiling. The udon freshly lifted from the pot is a delicacy with a nice, soft surface and a very springy texture. In addition to the “kama-tama udon,” there’s also cold udon and tsukemen noodles similar to zaru-style noodles. There’s only counter seating available, and the soup stock and seasonings are all self-service. The restaurant closes once the noodle supply runs out.

This udon restaurant is located in Manno Town in Nakatado County, Kagawa Prefecture and is said to be the first restaurant to start serving “soy sauce udon.” When you order soy sauce udon, the first things brought to the table are a large radish and a surigane grating dish. You grate the radish yourself and use it to top the udon, then pour on the soy sauce. The plump, springy noodles, sweet soy sauce, and juicy radish combine to produce a refreshing taste.

Kamitsubaki is a café and restaurant located within the precincts of the Kotohira-gu Shrine in Kotohira Town, Nakatado County, Kagawa Prefecture. There is a self-service café on the ground-floor level, with the restaurant located in the basement level; the food and beverages are supplied by famous catering firm Shiseido Parlour. Inside the restaurant, the walls are covered with decorative tiles featuring camellia designs, providing a perfect match for the verdant forest scenery outside the windows. Besides traditional Western-style cuisine made using local ingredients from the Sanuki region, Kamitsubaki also serves light refreshments and desserts, including Kamitsubaki Parfait, which has a strongly Japanese feel.

Teuchi Udon Hayuka is a restaurant specializing in Sanuki Udon noodles. This is a self-service restaurant; after diners have ordered their Udon noodles, they add the desired toppings themselves. Teuchi Udon Hayuka is renowned for its thick, full-bodied, firm-textured noodles. The menu includes Kake Udon (traditional style Udon noodles in a simple broth), Zaru Udon (Udon noodles served on a bamboo tray), and Bukkake Udon (chilled Udon noodles served with a soy sauce based broth); diners can choose between two types of Bukkake Udon, one served with a mild-tasting broth and the other with a more strongly-flavored broth. The range of toppings available includes tempura, and also home-made roast pork, which is highly recommended.

This shop sits quietly within its calm, garden milieu. A renovated storehouse, this shop offers a bright, open atmosphere and a great view to enjoy while you eat. The season-limited shippoku udon is a Sanuki local specialty, as is the premier shippoku made with olive beef. You have the choice of hot or cold kake-udon noodles.

For some reason, this restaurant is not on the beaten track of bus tours, which makes it a great place for locals to enjoy a really delicious bowl of udon. All of the offerings are good, with a...

Tamura Udon is located at the intersection of Prefectual Route 17 and 183 north of Takinomiya Tenmangu Shrine. It looks like a small private house but is actually a popular noodle shop and there can be long lines at peak times. Its most popular dish is plain kake udon. The homemade noodles using locally sourced flour are firm and fresh, and the locals love it too. You can choose your own toppings which include standards such as boiled egg or tempura and unexpected items such as konbu seaweed tempura.

Kagawa Main Areas

around-area-map

Japan’s smallest prefecture, Kagawa, may take up just a small corner of Shikoku, but it has grown increasingly popular with the recognition of Naoshima, its "art island" in the Seto Inland Sea between Shikoku and Honshu. Just a stone’s throw from the islands, mainland Kagawa’s prefectural capital, Takamatsu, holds history in its castle ruins and its pride and joy, Ritsurin Garden, is known as one of the country’s best gardens.
