This is a theme park that has repurposed the open set that served as the filming location in the 1987 movie Twenty-Four Eyes. Homes, the school and fishermen’s residences that stand side-by-side harken back to the early Showa period and convey the appearance of the film’s world. In addition to the Tsuboi Sakae Memorial Museum dedicated to the author of the novel the film was based on, the Shochikuza Movie Theater that regularly screens Twenty-Four Eyes, and the “Kinema no Iori” gallery that introduces various Japanese films of the 1950s, there is also a restaurant and cafe on site.

Fantastic location, on the tip of a peninsula. If the weather is nice, the seaside view is tremendous. Familiarity with the 1954 film would add value to the experience, but the old sets are quaint...

This roughly one-kilometer long beach is also known as the Salar de Uyuni of Japan. It's been designated one of the Japan’s 100 best sunset destinations. The scenery is truly superb between 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after sunset when two conditions are satisfied: the tide and sunset coincide and there is no wind to make waves on the surface of the water.

We plan to visit this beach to take amazing photos like other visitors however we forgot to do enough research and came here around noon. The beach is quite large and a bit windy. It s a nice beach...

This is a spot that is famous for serving as a location for the filming of the 1954movie Twenty-Four Eyes. Ever since it was built in 1902 it was used as the Noma Elementary School Tanoura Branch for approximately 70 years. The classrooms remain as they were at the time with desks, an organ and creations by schoolchildren left behind, and there is no end to the visits by fans of the film and original novel.

The name of this antique shop means “nap” in French. Operating out of a black-doored warehouse with no sign, the shop offers a variety of antique furniture and curios. Like an old-fashioned secondhand store, the shop’s collection of furniture has been assembled without regard to specific styles or eras; most of it was purchased in and brought over from the U.K. The shop’s knickknacks from the Czech Republic, Belgium, France, and numerous other countries are simple yet adorable. Customers rave that, enwrapped in the shop’s unique atmosphere, you’ll completely forget about the time as you hunt for fascinating and attractive antiques.

We visites this place thanks to a very nice Obasan. She bring us to the Koto local club concert , to a samurai very nice picture exhibition and also to the cofee shop. Very nice place and eternal...

  • Yashima Island (Dan-no-Ura)

Yajima Sanjo, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture
This place was the location of the Battle of Yashima, one of the major theaters of the Genpei War. Many romantic historical events took place here, such as Nasu no Yoichi shooting an arrow through the fan of a taunting enemy soldier. A great number of scenic and historic sites can be found here, including the inlet where the Taira clan hid warships in preparation for a raid by the Minamoto clan, and the Shishi no Reigan observatory where visitors can throw tiles in memory of the Minamoto clan's victory.

This scenic stretch of white sands and green pines has even been selected for inclusion in a list of Japan's 100 Best Beaches. Ancient, 600-year-old pines and visually stunning twisted pines with roots jutting out of the ground extend along a one-kilometer-long length of beach. The largest swimming beach in the prefecture, in the summer the popular destination bustles with beach-goers and it sees over 130 thousand visitors annually.
  • Neagari Pine
    Travel / Tourism
    Kagawa Kanonji Yahatacho 2-7-2
This black pine tree stands on the east side of Place of Scenic Beauty-designated Kotohiki Park, which is also a part of Setonaikai National Park. “Neagari” means “rising roots,” and as its name implies, the roots of this ancient pine are exposed and rise high off the ground. It is believed this is a result of several conditions working together, including the weathering of the ground over the years and the pine’s age, but regardless as to how it came to look like it does, the pine is one of only a few examples found in the country with such stunningly exposed roots and which is also still growing quite vigorously. “Neagari” can also mean “rising prices” or “rising value” in Japanese, and as such the pine is also famously believed to improve financial luck and is visited by people from across the country to pray for a salary raise or for the price of their favorite stock to rise.

This udon noodle restaurant, located a10-minute walk from Kotoden Enza Station, can be identified from the closes intersection by its large sign. The restaurant has a retro atmosphere and serves orthodox handmade udon. Customers particularly love the chewy, springy noodles of the Bukkake Udon, which exudes the rich flavor of the dashi stock used to make it. Desiring to enable customers to enjoy fresh-made noodles, the restaurant does not keep a large stock of noodles ready to eat lying around. Closely tied to the local community, on weekends locals often line up to purchase packets of noodles to take home and eat.

Kagawa Areas

around-area-map

Japan’s smallest prefecture, Kagawa, may take up just a small corner of Shikoku, but it has grown increasingly popular with the recognition of Naoshima, its "art island" in the Seto Inland Sea between Shikoku and Honshu. Just a stone’s throw from the islands, mainland Kagawa’s prefectural capital, Takamatsu, holds history in its castle ruins and its pride and joy, Ritsurin Garden, is known as one of the country’s best gardens.
