  • Cape Kamoda

    Located on the easternmost tip of Shikoku, this cape has a lighthouse with a fantastic view. On clear days, visitors can see all the way to the distant Onaruto Bridge, Awaji Island, and even Wakayama Prefecture. The beach to the north is also famously known as a place where loggerhead turtles lay their eggs. It's also fun to view the beautiful scenery from the Nami-no-Uta monument completed relatively recently in 2010.

    Counted as one of 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, at 1,955-meter high, it is also the second highest peak in western Japan, coming after Mt. Ishizuchi. Visitors can enjoy the seasonally changing virgin forests and alpine plants. Also considered a sacred place in mountain worshipping religions, large numbers of climbers visit the mountain year round. A lift operates from mid-April to the end of November which can take riders from the trailhead to midway up the trail leading to the mountaintop.

    This coast is well-known for being a sea turtle nesting ground. Loggerhead sea turtles visit each year from mid-May to mid-August to lay their eggs. The coast, which is also well-known as a place a scenic beauty, has been selected as one of the Japan's 100 Great Beaches as well as one of the Shikoku's 88 Great Waterfronts. The white sand beaches, which have a tropical atmosphere, are visited by many beachgoers during the summer.

    Todoroki Waterfalls were selected as one of the 100 best Japanese waterfalls. This waterfall which boasts of being the largest in Shikoku, has the feature of a superb resounding thunderous roaring and ground trembling. The waterfall is also enshrined at Todoroki Shrine and Ryuo-ji Temple. Various large and small waterfalls occur in succession upstream such as Ookarasu-Kokarasu falls and Torigaeshi falls, and as a general term, the waterfalls are also called “Todoroki Kujuku-taki Waterfalls”.
