    A roadside station about 10 minutes by car on the Wakimachi Interchange. The facility is a renovated old storehouse, appearing to melt into the surrounding town of Udatsu with its Edo period atmosphere. The retail shop on the first floor sells products made in Tokushima Prefecture. The second floor has a free rest area and a cafe, where you can eat handmade ice cream and meals made with Awaodori chicken. “Mimakara” ice cream has local specialty Ao-togarashi spice that adds some spice to the sweetness. Walking around Yoshida Residence or the Udatsu streets of Wakimachi is recommended.

    This rest stop includes a “German Museum,” which provides information on the exchange between locals and German soldiers who were taken prisoner in WWI, and the “Kagawa Archives & Resource Center.” It’s located in Oasa Town, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, where the first Japan performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony took place. The tourist center features shops with famous local goods and an area that serves light German-themed breakfasts. There’s also an information section that provides information on routes and local tourist spots.

At the station’s Irori no Ma, a traditional-style room featuring a Japanese sunken hearth, visitors can experience ancient cultures and lifestyles first hand.

    This roadside station features a popular shop that offers original Katsuura products such as sweets made with mandarin oranges, a local specialty; and sweetfish named “Tachikawa Taro” by Hachisuka clan, the lord of the Tokushima domain. The farmer’s market, which is stocked with fresh local fruits and vegetables, is also popular. Other facilities include an udon shop offering authentic handmade Sanuki udon noodles and a café offering items made with locally-grown ingredients.

    This roadside rest area is located on National Route 55 in Minami Town, Kaifu County, Tokushima Prefecture. Many locals as well as tourists use this rest area built next to JR Hiwasa Station. There is a hot spring footbath, and visitors can refresh their feet after sightseeing or making the Shikoku pilgrimage. The produce hall sells local specialties, light snacks, and locally made goods. There is also a sightseeing information office providing visitors with rental bicycles as well as information on transportation and sightseeing.

    This popular roadside station is comprised of a number of facilities. The Toretore Market has a reputation for the freshness of the fish, vegetables, and other items that it stocks every day. Its local product shop sells local specialties such as sudachi citrus vinegar and Awa tsukudani (a local simmered seafood preserve), as well as local sweets, handicrafts, and more. There is also a food court and even a fortuneteller. It also offers collectable commemorative roadside station tickets.

    This is a roadside station on National Route 192 in Tsurugi Town, Mima County, Tokushima Prefecture. The land mark is the observation tower of 23 meters that overlooks the mountain of Kenzan, the majestic Shikoku mountain ranges, and the Yoshino River. The produce hall sells local specialties such as vegetables grown by local farmers picked that morning, traditional crafts, Handa somen noodles, dried persimmon, yuzu citrus vinegar, and Awaodori chicken curry. The restaurant’s popular dish is a sizzling Teppan yaki BBQ set using Awaodori chicken. In the bright open space you can enjoy unique Shikoku and Tokushima delicacies.

    This waterside park located along the Naka River offers visitors the chance to experience canoeing. It also includes the lower station of the Tairyuji Ropeway, western Japan’s longest aerial lift. The Washi no Sato Tourist Information and Local Products Center has information about tourism and local products, a souvenir shop, and a rest hall. It is often bustling with pilgrims and tourists visiting Tairyuji Temple, the 21st temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, which is located at the terminus of the ropeway.

    四国八十八か所巡礼中、第22番札所から第21番札所へ向かう途中、トイレ休憩も兼ねて止まった道の駅でしたが施設の中で手打ちうどんを打っていたので思わず食事しました。 やはり打ち立てのうどんはおいしい、もちもちしこしこ、しかも出汁もおいしいのでつるっといただけます。施設の中はコンパクトですがお土産コーナーも充実、思わず長居してしまいました。
