- A Shinto shrine located in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Although there are many “Inari” shrines in the country, Motonosumi Inari Shrine uses characters which differ from those normally used to write “Inari” and is one of only two shrines in the country to use these specific characters for “Inari.” After a white fox appeared besides the pillow of the head of a local fisherman’s union and made a pronouncement, this shrine was established here as a branch shrine of the Taikodani Inari-jinja Shrine in Shimane Prefecture in 1955. The shrine is said to provide worshipers with a variety of boons, including prosperous business, maritime safety, luck in love and marriage, luck in having children, improved fortunes, and protection from evil and misfortune. The shrine’s biggest highlight is the 123 red torii gates which form a tunnel along a path leading from the sea to the shrine at the top of a hill. In the background, blue ocean stretches to the horizon and the area’s famed “Ryugu no Shiofuki” (“The Dragon Spout”) occasionally bursts into the air in a shower of mist, and this site was even elected by the CNN television network in the US as one of the 31 most beautiful spots in Japan. The giant torii gate at the end of the trail has an offertory box on top famous for being the most difficult to place a coin into in Japan.

- This is a memorial hall located in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, dedicated to the poet of children poems Kaneko Misuzu, and built on the site of Kaneko Buneido where she spent her childhood. Her kimonos and personal belongings are on display. In addition, the museum is designed to replicate the atmosphere of the time she spent there, and visitors can immerse themselves in the world of her stories in the retro atmosphere.

長門市の仙崎の町中にある金子みすゞ記念館。この記念館がある場所は、金子みすゞが幼少期を過ごした書店、金子文英堂の跡地建てられているそうです。ですから、記念館の上に掲げられている看板には、「金子文英堂」と書かれていました。 入館料はかかりますが、内部には金子みすゞの部屋が再現されていたり、みすゞギャラリーなどがありました。

- "This is a temple of the Soto sect of Buddhism, revering ""Shaka-nyorai"" as the main idol of worship, located in Nagato city, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and founded in 1410. It was also known as the place of the fall of the Ouchi clan which lead Yamaguchi to great wealth during the Muromachi period (1336–1573). - "There is a legend that Lady Yang, one of the three most beautiful women in the world, got on a small boat and drifted to this temple after escaping from disaster. On the grounds overlooking Yuya Bay in the inner sea, the Five Ring Pagoda, which is said to be the Tomb of Lady Yang"" and the two principal object of worship statues of Buddha (a standing image of Amitabha Buddha and a standing image of Shakyamuni Buddha) enshrined to pray for the repose of Lady Yang's soul are enshrined. The plum trees bloom in March and the yokihi-zakura cherry blossoms in April each year, and the temple is said to be for the protection of women, safe delivery, fertility and marriage. Yuya Bay, which can be seen from the temple, is also known as a spot for touring and dates because of the beautiful sunset."

山口油谷湾の小さな集落に楊貴妃のお墓と伝承されるスポットがあります。その謂われは綿々と心打たれるもので、なるほどこれが楊貴妃のお墓かもと思わせるモノがあります。この伝承の中でこのお寺さんも改名したそうです。 平日であったこともあり、訪れていたのは私一人。散歩に来ていた地元の方からお寺の説明を聞かせて頂きました。中華風の建物や大理石の楊貴妃像など異国情緒も目を引きました。

- This is an outdoor theater in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture using the curved contours on the northeastern slope of Mt. Akasaki. Around 400 years ago, people in the area prayed at the Akasaki-jinja Shrine for their horses and cattle which were infected with a disease. Their prayers were answered so the people dedicated arts and dance to express their gratitude. It is known as an academically valuable cultural asset.

- A National Natural Monument and Place of Scenic Beauty located in Yuyatsuo, Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. When the wind blows from the north and makes the seas here choppy, the waves are pushed into a small hole in the cliff face one meter tall and 20 centimeters wide, causing water to shoot into the air like a Spout. The Spout can reach heights of up to 30 meters, creating a powerful spectacle resembling a dragon shooting into the sky. A path, covered with 123 red torii gates, leads from the Spout up a hill to Motonosumi Inari Shrine. This area is popular in part because of the gorgeous scenery created by the contrast of the torii gates and the ocean.

- This museum is located about a five-minute drive from Nagatoshi Station. It introduces the achievements and personalities of Seifu Murata and Masanosuke Sufu, two local wise men who played a central role in reforming clan politics during the turbulent political situation at the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate, through their belongings and other materials. In the main building, which was newly opened in 2018, the lives of the artists are introduced in panels with cartoons, and it is enjoyed for being easy to understand. Production tools (for rice, paper, salt and wax) and folk materials are also on display, allowing visitors to experience the history of the local industry and the lives of the people of that time.

- "This firefly viewing spot is located along the clear waters of the Shichiju River surrounded by a rich natural environment. The famous scenic spot ""Shichidan no Taki"" (seven-tiered waterfall) is nearby. In early June, the local festival ""Tezukuri Hotaru Matsuri in Tawarayama"" is held with an at-home atmosphere, and it has become a summer tradition in Tawarayama with a bingo contest, bazaar and band performances. On Saturdays and Sundays during the season, there is a hotaru firefly bus that runs from Tawarayama Onsen, so many tourists also come while visiting hot springs."
