    Hiroshima Pref. Fukuyamashi Tomochou Tomo 595
    Famous for its sea bream fishing nets, Tomonoura in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture is where you can find Tomo Higoya, a shop which specializes in sea bream miso. The shop opened in 2013 in an old Edo period merchant house. The sea bream miso is a local traditional dish made by simmering sea bream from Setouchi with locally produced miso and mirin, sake, and soy sauce, etc. The smell of Japanese peppers in the miso arouses a taste that can be enjoyed in various ways such as with rice, or eaten together with a glass of sake, or with ochazuke (boiled rice with tea). They have three kinds of flavors, red, white and sesame. Other things the shop sells include rolled sushi with sea bream miso and laver boiled in soy sauce.

    建物は江戸時代から続いているそうです。鯛味噌が有名です。イートインもできますし、手土産としても利用できます。

    A western confectioner in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. They offer handmade gelato, and the 18 different flavors change every day. They also offer special seasonal limited time flavors. Particular about their ingredients, they use no preservatives or food coloring, giving you the chance to taste gelato made with care and attention. There is also an eat-in area.

    The place has a nice room where you can seat enjoy your delicious ice cream with a cup of tea. I definitely recommend the hazelnuts and pistachio flavors!

Some of their more creative sweets are the New Heike Story, A Modern Translation of the Classic Tale of Love and War, which is named after Eiji Yoshikawa’s work, and the summer season only Letter from Autumn Colors. They also make a variety of creative seasonal confections.

It is famous for their warabimochi (bracken starch dumplings), which are each made to order exclusively with pure domestic bracken starch. It is popular for the fact that customers can grind their own roasted soybean flour with a stone mill while waiting for their warabimochi to be made. Customers can relax with a cup of tea in the Japanese-style interior of the shop, which is visited by many tourists.

    尾道駅からロープウェイ方面へのアーケード内にあります。昔ながらの店構えで落ち着いた店内です。お蕎麦も美味しかったけど、自分で石臼を使って大豆を引いてわらび餅のきな粉を作るところは本当にユニークです。黒い本蕨餅も初めての体験で、記憶に残る旅の思い出になりました。オススメです。

People love the simple and basic flavor, and the shop’s chocolates fill the mouth with the taste of carefully selected cacao beans. From bean selection to chocolate making and packaging, everything is performed by hand. The invigorating scenery of the Onomichi waterway stretches out in front of the shop, which looks like something straight out of a fairy tale. The café’s display case is filled with tofu donuts, treats with a delicate flavor made with quality Hokkaido flour and domestic soybean tofu. The donut toppings are made with ingredients safe and healthy for everyone, from children to adults, including organic kinako roasted soybean flour and kokuto brown cane sugar. The café also sells drinks such as juices made with 100% fruit juice.

    A Japanese confectionary shop located near the entrance to the Omotesando Shotengai shopping arcade in Miyajima Town, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture which was established in 1932. The shop’s signature momiji manju maple leaf-shaped steamed buns have long been loved as a standard Miyajima and Hiroshima souvenir. Made with select ingredients, these buns are offered with around 20 fillings, including not only standard koshian strained sweet bean paste and tsubuan coarse sweet bean paste but also whipped cream, chocolate, purple yam, and seasonal fillings. In addition to the sales area, there’s also a corner where you can get fresh-cooked momiji manju. The shop offers a mini class where you can try cooking your own momiji manju—note that reservations take precedence over walk-ins, however.

    A large souvenir shop and restaurant in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture directly operated by the Onomichi Sightseeing and Souvenir Cooperative, an organization with 70 member businesses selling food and crafts. The shop area carries around 500 different souvenir items, including Onomichi ramen, processed marine products, and renowned sweets made with citrus fruits from the Shimanami Kaido area. There's also a tatami café space and rest area in the back. The restaurant area is reservation only and serves dishes made with local ingredients like conger eel rice and kaisen seiro seafood steamed in a wooden basket.

    本通り商店街の中のお店に立ち寄りました。土産物の種類は多いですが、ここにしかない品物はなにかあるのかなという印象でした。時間が短いときに立ち寄って土産物を買うには便利な場所かなと思いました。
