Okayama Pref. Setouchishi Ushimadochoushimado

This bay is located in the Ushimado area of Ushimado-cho, Setouchi City. It is currently integrated with Kashino Port, and consists of Ushimado and Kashino areas. Besides fulfilling an important role since long ago in marine transportation and being used as a harbor port for daimyo going back and forth between ancient Edo and for Korean delegations to Japan, it flourished in shipbuilding and salt production. It is a base from industries such as shipbuilding, fishing and tourism to this day, and also has a yacht harbor.

One of Japan’s Three Great Gardens, Koraku-en in Okayama city is well worth a visit before progressing to Kurashiki, where preserved wooden Edo buildings line the picturesque canal.
