This is a pasture located in the foothills of Mt. Daisen. It is a popular spot for children and has facilities called “Me-me (Baa-baa) land” with sheep, goats and rabbits and “Wan-wan (bow-wow) land” where you can interact with a variety of dogs.

Yonago Waterbirds Sanctuary is located around 15 minutes' drive from JR Yonago Station; the sanctuary itself is around two minutes' walk from the parking area. The sanctuary, which is an important habitat for wild birds, occupies a part of Nakaumi Lagoon where the Ramsar Convention is registered. Every year, Yonago Waterbirds Sanctuary is visited by around 1,000 Tundra Swans (Bewick's Swans), more than anywhere else in Western Japan, as well as by an average of more than 75,000 geese and ducks. The sanctuary is also a vital habitat for many endangered plant and animal species, including Potamogeton pectinatus, a submerged aquatic plant, and the Appasus, an aquatic insect. At the Sanctuary's Nature Center, visitors can listen to explanatory talks by park rangers and volunteers, and can use the telescopes and binoculars installed in the Nature Center to view the birds. Various special events are held at the Sanctuary, including Nature Watching Fairs, etc.

After checking the internet to confirm the place was open and walking for three kilometres only to find it was closed we were very disappointed. Even the sign at the gate said it was open! We could...

A history museum in a red brick building that you can spot from far away. The Western-style building with a tiled exterior was built in 1930 and used to be Yonago City Hall. At the time of construction, it was considered the top building in the San'in region. It currently displays Yonago folk items and items related to Yonago Castle, as well as artifacts from the Fukuichi Ruins, a National Historic Site. The architect's precision is evident in the details, including the earthquake resistant modern Western style Kaginote-zukuri architecture, curved handrails, and formal passages. It's illuminated at night, and has been designated a city Tangible Cultural Property.

A park with burial mounds modeled after life in the Yayoi period. Site of the Mukoyama Burial Mounds that were built from the late fifth to the late sixth centuries, a total of 17 mounds are distributed across the precincts. 104 haniwa earthen objects are set up around the scallop-style tumulus area that recreates a mid-Kofun period burial mound. The site is dotted with features that will help you imagine life in ancient times, like a 15-meter-high stilt-raised structure that has been restored to its original state. The Kodai Taiken no Yakata holds workshops in making earthenware, haniwa objects, and ceramic flutes, as well as building fires. Reservations are required. Its many other highlights include an adventure plaza with a wooden athletic tower and the Kodai Lotus Park where you can find the Oga lotus, a variety said to be 2,000 years old.

"This facility opened in 1983 and was the San'in region's first public art museum. The imposing brick building houses about 1,700 works by local artists. They hold a variety of special exhibitions, including private, city, and prefectural displays, as well as the Yonago Autumn Cultural Festival. The museum is particularly known for exhibitions by Yonago locals. They also have various events like a ""Museum School"" as part of an educational promotion initiative, art lectures, and workshops."

A footbath in front of the Yonago City Tourism Center. It was expanded in 2017, with additions of a wooden deck area and benches. With the bright, wide open atmosphere, it's a great place to take a break and soak your feet while walking around or waiting for the bus or an appointment. The Shiokaze Footbath is just a one-minute walk away, so lots of tourists stop by while visiting the different footbaths. The tourist center has a limited number of free towels available for use, but it's recommended that you bring your own.

A day-use hot spring bathhouse located at the foot of Mt. Daisen, the renowned San'in peak. Its hot spring water is pumped from a depth of 1,200 meters. Deeper than underground water, it's not effected by conditions on the surface, so it does not contain nitrates or nitrites. You'll enjoy this simple alkaline spring that flows freely from the source. Their European-style Garden Bath can accommodate 100 people at a time. Have a leisurely soak, unwind, and absorb its magical world while gazing at the seasonal flowers they care for each morning.

"Legend says San'in's oldest garden was visited by Emperor Go-Daigo when he was exiled to the Oki Islands at the fall of the Kamakura shogunate. It's one of only two early Edo period ""crane and tortoise"" gardens left in the country, the other being at Kyoto's Saihojji Temple, also known as the moss temple. The small ornamental pond style garden has a bit of a Horai Garden feel. Designed after natural scenery, the pond has an island representing ""Shinsen Island"" as a prayer for prosperity. Designs that became formalized in the Edo period can be seen throughout the garden; it has been registered as a National Site of Scenic Beauty. Be sure to call in advance before visiting."

Mt. Daisen was originally called Mt. Ogamiyama and is where Okuninushi no kami, the great national goddess is enshrined. Worshippers have gathered at Mt. Daisen as the “Mountain of God” since long ago. The approach to the Okumiya, behind the main shrine, uses natural stone and has a mysterious feel. It is said to be the longest approach path in Japan.

Hakuho-no-Sato is a facility located in the center of a group of tumuli built primarily in the sixth century where visitors can experience ancient Japanese culture. This bathhouse constantly replenishes its tubs ""kakenagashi"" style using the abundant waters of a privately owned, natural alkaline simple hot spring welling up in the woods nearby. The waters of this spring are gentle on the skin and safe even for senior citizens and those with atopy. It's an essential water source for the locals for everything from drinking to agricultural uses to raising rainbow trout.
