    The local nickname for the shopping arcade which extends from Sakaiminato Station to the Mizuki Shigeru Memorial Museum. The area is a central part of the book “Yokai no Machi,” a book written by manga artist Shigeru Mizuki about his hometown of Sakaiminato City. The road is lined with numerous bronze statues of “yokai,” Japanese folk monsters that were a major focus of Mizuki’s work. The station, arcade shops, police boxes, street lights, and parks in the area all have been decorated with a yokai world theme. Some of the area’s many highlights include the kappa fountain, Youkai Shrine, and Gegege no Yokai Rakuen miniature theme park. This famous tourism destination is visited by large numbers of tourists not only from within the country but also around the world.

    A marine products direct sales center located along the coast a 20 minute walk from the popular Mizuki Shigeru Road tourism destination in Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture. Sakaiminato boasts some of the largest fishing catches in the nation, and this direct sales center is one of the first places the city’s ultra-fresh marine delicacies are delivered to. 14 shops stand side by side in the center, selling fresh fish and processed marine products. Here you’ll find seasonal seafood sold at reasonable prices, such as Pacific bluefin tuna and Iwagaki oysters in summer, red snow crab from fall to early summer, and matsuba crab in winter. This popular marketplace attracts not only tourists but also local shoppers.
  • Kanemochi-jinja Shrine

    A Shinto shrine located in Hino Town, Hino County, Tottori Prefecture famed for granting worshippers luck with money and better fortunes. The shrine is said to have been founded in 810 when the second son of a Shinto priest in Izumo suddenly felt the gemstone amulet he was carrying become heavy while travelling through the area; he then built the shrine in accordance with instruction provided to him through a god in a dream. During the Jumbo lottery season, the shrine is visited by large numbers of worshippers. Four times a year, the shrine holds an event to exorcise and burn old wallets. The shrine sells yellow wallets and other tokens of good fortune, as well as lucky sweets.

    This is a memorial hall of the literary master Inoue Yasushi who served exchanging cultures between Japan and China. It is also a museum of the history of Tottori Prefecture which has had close relations with Asian countries since long ago. In the memorial hall, there is a display of the model of Inoue Yasushi’s study and items that he used for writing. The museum displays more than 2000 pieces of valuable Persian brocade in the “Persian Brocade section” which is said to be one of the three largest collections in the world. Also, in the “Mongolia section”, you can see displays that show the life of the Mongolian nomads. The facility offers a lot to see.

The menu offers dishes of generous servings such as specially selected seafood on bowls of rice, a set meal of sushi in a boat-like dish, an all-you-can-eat local red snow crab course using only fresh and non-frozen produce.

    price is reasonable with fresh & tasty crab. we took beni-zuwaigani instead of matsuba as feel former is better than latter. price also cheaper. although location is bit far but take walk also ok...

    This ski resort is one of the largest in Western Japan and consists of four areas called Kokusai, Goenzan, Naka-no-hara, and Ue-no-hara. The resort offers slopes with an ocean view. If you look down from the lift, you can see the Japan sea and the Oki Islands. There are nine styles of slopes that can be enjoyed from beginners to advanced skiers. Also, there is a kid’s area called “Taka-piyo” land that can be enjoyed by families with children.

    Was snowboarding there 2 times this year! There are good rental stores for clothes and equipment, ski and snowboard school for those who are doing it for the first time, and restaurants. It`s pretty...

    This beach next to Kaike hot springs, located at the base of Yumigahama Peninsula, has a beautiful stretch of sandy beach and pine trees. At night, squid fishing boats beautifully light up the coast line and visitors can enjoy the contrast to the day time scenery.

    This bridge is also known as the “Beta stepping slope” connecting Watari-cho, Sakaiminato City in Tottori Prefecture and Yatsuka-cho, Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture. It is popular to take a photo from the Oshima island with a telephoto lens to capture the impact of the scene.

    This is the Soto Sect temple, home to the “Rokudo Painting of Hell and Paradise”, said to be the origin of the ghosts used by Shigeru Mizuki, author of Gegege no Kitaro. There are also monuments in the precinct of Shigeru Mizuki and Matsuo Basho.

    水木しげる先生が子どものころに見てインスピレーションを受けたという地獄極楽図を蔵しており、文化財にも指定されています。それにちなんで水木先生の記念碑もありました。JR境線上道駅から歩いて10分弱かかりました。

    This is a day-trip bathing facility located along the approach of Daisen-ji Temple. The indoor bath called “Kami-no-yu, the gods bath” uses hot spring water from 1,200 meters below Mt. Daisen and has a mystical atmosphere. Also, the view from the outdoor bath overlooking the mountaintops and gardens of Daisen is spectacular. There is a restaurant in the hall, and visitors can enjoy handmade cuisine made from “Goen-tofu” and udon noodles.

    大山登山後に、登山口近くにある当温泉場に、疲れた身体を癒すために訪問した。 温泉には、内湯と外湯があったが、外湯が好きな私は、最初に露天風呂に浸かった。広さは若干狭いものの、お湯の湯加減が丁度よく、周囲の木々も一部紅葉しており、身体の疲れがとれる感覚を覚えた。 今回は時間の制約上ゆっくり滞在することはできなかったが、大山登山の折にはもう一度訪問したい温泉場であった。

    Mt. Daisen was originally called Mt. Ogamiyama and is where Okuninushi no kami, the great national goddess is enshrined. Worshippers have gathered at Mt. Daisen as the “Mountain of God” since long ago. The approach to the Okumiya, behind the main shrine, uses natural stone and has a mysterious feel. It is said to be the longest approach path in Japan.

    This is a roadside station that is located along National Route 181 and is approximately one minute from the Yonago Expressway Kofu Interchange. It is a recommended place for souvenirs as it offers fresh morning picked vegetables and Okudaisen specialty goods.

    道の駅奥大山内にあるレストラン。 訪問当時は、水曜日だけ同じ江府町内のカサラファームの方が 調理を担当しているとのことでした。 私は、カレーを注文。ミニサラダと唐揚げが付いて来ました。 肉は鶏肉で、ルーもスパイシーでとても美味しいカレーで、 大満足のお昼ご飯になりました。

    This roadside station is a community-based station that offers locally grown produce, specialty goods, local delicacies and restaurants. The popular item at the station is the famous black tea ice cream made with local organically grown tea.

    山陰自動車道のSAかと思いましたが、いったん自動車道を出た所にあります。きつねうどんは、地元の豆腐のお揚げを使用とのことで、大きなお揚げが2枚。出汁と共に美味しかったです。もちろん紅茶ソフトも美味。今、瞬の大きな梨(名前は忘れましたが)1ケ420円でしたが、お土産に購入。水分たっぷりな梨でした。

    Kikkawa Hiroie built the four-tiered watchtower in 1591, and then in 1601 Nakamura Kazutada became the region’s governor and completed the castle by constructing the five storied keep. Currently only the stone walls remain. However, visitors can see a spectacular panorama view of Yonago City from the 90-meter high mountain top. It is a famous spot for viewing the cherry blossoms in spring.

    This volcano in Tottori Prefecture is the highest peak in the Chugoku area. Part of the Daisen Oki National Park the mountain has an altitude of 1,729 meters and was selected as one of Japan’s top 100 mountains and 100 landscapes. The west side is a beautiful cone shape also called “Mt. Fuji of the east, Daisen of the west”. The main “summer mountain climbing course” aims for the summit while allowing climbers to look out over one of Japan’s greatest beech forests and natural monuments, Daisen Kyaraboku, a kind of Dwarf Japanese yew, growing en masse. This is popular with beginners and children too.
