At the entrance is a place where customers can eat Mehari Sushi (sushi wrapped in pickled mustard leaves) or buy a box of five pieces with dipping sauce to take home as a souvenir. Wakayama Tanabe-shi Kitashinmachi 1
Located in the center of Tanabe, a city along the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route, about a 15-minute drive from the Nanki Tanabe Interchange on the Hanwa Expressway via National Route 42, this is a venerable retailer of traditional Japanese sweets. Its flagship product is Okeshi Mochi, a simple round, flat cake of rice paste covered on both sides with sweet red bean paste. The soft, chewiness of the pounded Mochi cake and the perfectly salted, not-too-sweet flavor of the bean paste make this a popular item, and it is said to have been a favorite of Minakata Kumagusu, the famous 19th-century scholar in natural history and folklore studies. Since these confections do not keep more than a day, one can taste them only here. In the back of the shop is a tea corner, where customers can enjoy a cup of tea with their sweets.

    紀伊田辺駅から闘鶏神社と逆の方に行くとあります。お餅の上に粒あんをのせた辻の餅が名物です。シンプルですが非常に美味しかったです。
