    Miwa Yamamoto Oshokujidokoro is a restaurant located along National Route 169 in Hashinaka in the city of Sakurai, inside the headquarter of the noodle company Miwa Yamamoto. Of course the menu at this venerable shop is centered on the Somen noodles manufactured and sold by the company. Items on the menu include Chilled Somen, Hot Noodles in Broth, Persimmon Leaf Sushi, and desserts can be enjoyed a la carte or in prix fixe meals.

    This shop, located outside the gate of Hasedera Temple in Sakurai City, Nara, is famous for its kusamochi (rice flour dumplings) and Narazuke (vegetables pickled in sake lees). Originally established as a sake brewery they started making Narazuke with their high-quality sake lees. Vegetables such as gourds, ginger, and cucumbers are left to carefully ferment over a three-year period to give them outstanding flavor and mouthfeel. Their kusafuku-mochi is also popular, using native mugwort kneaded into the mochi wrapped around red-bean paste giving it a pleasing smell and rich flavor.

    長谷寺３回目なのですが、このあたりはよもぎ餅が名物なので必ず買います。ただコロナの影響か、３連休でもお店あいているのかやっているのか不明みたいなとこが多くて、この一番門前に近いお店はよもぎ餅がごろごろおかれているのでやっているのがよくわかりました。１４０円でしたが、おそらく一番このへんで高い価格

    Located on National Route 169 in Sakurai City, this facility is owned and operated by Miwa Yamamoto, a hand-pulled somen (a type of fine white noodle) company founded 300 years ago. The store sells the company's signature hand-pulled somen as well as dried noodles, mentsuyu (noodle dipping sauce), sweets, and more. In the adjoining restaurant, you can enjoy hiyashi somen (chilled somen) and nyumen (hot noodle soup).

    This sake brewery established in the early Meiji period makes the sake used for sake offerings at Tanzan Shrine. It is notable for its Daimyoshoyazake brand and its kijoshu (sake made by substituting water with sake in some processes). The brewery's amber Ruijoshu received the top marks in the koshu (aged sake) category at the International Wine Challenge 2017, earning it the Koshu Trophy. After being brewed to a Sake Meter Value of at least -50, this sake is aged for 10 years inside a cellar. It has a substantial sweetness unlike that of a kijoshu. The brewery is popular for its broad lineup, which ranges from fresh, unrefined and unfiltered sake as well as fine junmai daiginjo.

    Founded in 1844, this confectionary shop is famous for their Mimuro monaka (wafer cakes) made with Dainagon azuki beans, a Yamato specialty. The shop had the great honor of having their monaka accepted by Emperor Hirohito and Empress Kojun in 1951 and by Crown Prince Akihito (the current emperor) in 1953. The monaka make a great sweet for a seasonal tea ceremony or a gift.

    とてもいい香りの最中です。皮のかをりは空也最中と遜色ありません。中の餡が少し甘めです。おおきさも2種類あり親切な設定です。個人的にはもうちょい甘さ控えめめが好みですが、そうなると2、3個食べてしまいそうです。

    Uda City's Matsuyama district has been designated a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings and is overflowing with natural and historic scenery. This rest facility in a gallery was created with the aim of promoting exchange between visitors and the people who live in the area. There's a cafe and restaurant on the first floor where you can take in works of art while enjoying lunch or a cup of coffee.     This longstanding shop sells the Hasedera area's famous kusa mochi rice flour and mugwort dumplings. The buckets filled with Japanese mugwort out front draw the eye. In business for over 60 years, the shopfront display case continues to be filled with kusa mochi dumplings made the old-fashioned way. In addition to kusa mochi, the shop also has yaki mochi roasted rice cakes which are roasted right on the spot and piping hot. Both can be bought individually or in boxed sets.

    We got the baked kusamochi. They were sotasty. We only bought a box, but we shouldve bought more. While they are baking, they gave us a tasting sample, too.

    店の前に立つと店内のお姉様方が一斉に「いらっしゃい」の仕草。 団子などが店内でもいただけます。 串団子は一串90円とお手軽。 お土産品のアウトレット品もあり、なかなかユニークです。 店員さんはボランティアで、店内を見るだけでも歓迎してくださるでしょう。

With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
