    This is a Kakinoha-zushii specialty shop near the entrance of Higashimuki shopping district close to Kintetsu Nara Station. They serve many famous Nara specialties starting with Kaki no Ha Sushi, original sushi, and local sake. In the adjoining tearoom they offer Kakinoha-zushi set “Sushi A La Carte” and Jukushi (ripe persimmon) with a thick taste.

    The sushi was decent for the price. My friend and I both ordered the bento set which had a good amount of variety. It tasted a bit sweeter than most other sushi.

    A renowned persimmon leaf sushi restaurant located in front of the Kimpusen-ji Temple’s Zao-do hall in Yoshino Town, Yoshino County, Nara Prefecuture. This long-standing restaurant continues to follow the same traditional recipes used since it was established in the Taisho period. Persimmon leaf sushi is mackerel sprinkled with salt on a bed of vinegared rice wrapped in a persimmon leaf, which has antibacterial properties. This traditional local dish was originally conceived of as a way to bring fish deep into a mountainous region far from the sea. Each piece is carefully pressed by hand to create a delectable treat with the proper flavor balance; in addition to being available for purchase as souvenirs, the shop has an eat-in space where you can enjoy some persimmon leaf sushi right there. The shop’s seasonal noodle dishes and set options are also popular.

    This is a specialty shop for Kakinoha-zushi established for over 50 years in Yoshinoyama, Yoshino Town, located in a building over 50 years old along Prefectural Route 15. It is beside the Yoshimizu-jinja Shrine Torii, the World Heritage Site, and they sell sushi of domestic mackerel and Fukui-produced brand rice Koshihikari wrapped in Nishi-Yoshino-produced kaki leaves packed in a Yoshino cedar wood box. During cherry blossom season it is also possible to dine inside the shop.

    蔵王堂の少し上手。柿の葉寿司の専門店。 ばら売りはないので、一番小さい箱950円を買って、食べ比べ。ここの鯖は、寿司の一面をしっかり覆う大きさがあって、大将の几帳面さがよく分かります。大きさもあって、ヘビータイプの柿の葉寿司かなと思います。

    This specialty Kakinoha-sushi store is located on the intersection of Sanjo-dori and Yasuragi no michi, approximately four minutes on foot from the Kintetsu Nara Station. It sells Kakinoha-sushi, konbu-saba sushi, and sakura-zushi, bara-zushi, and maki-zushi, as well as other kinds of sushi, including steamed sushi. Its most popular product is its original Izasa-sushi, which is sushi wrapped in bamboo leaves into a triangular shape.

    This shop specializing in persimmon leaf sushi is located across from Tonan-in Temple in Yoshinoyama, Yoshino Town. Made with pickled mackerel prepared using their propriety methods, each and every piece of persimmon leaf sushi is pressed by hand the old fashion way with a wooden mold and packaged for sale in Yoshino cedar boxes. The shop's other offerings include Yoshino kuzu (kudzu powder), kuzukiri (a dessert made from kudzu powder), and kuzu somen (noodles made from kudzu powder).

    蔵王権現のご開帳に合わせて吉野を訪れました。こちらの柿の葉寿司は紅葉した柿の葉を使用されていてとても風情があります。目の前で包んで頂きました。季節限定品で、日持ちも通常のものより短いそうです。 頂いた方はとても喜ばれると思います。

    ツアーの昼食で利用しました。団体専用のレストランです。 柿の葉寿司や煮物、そうめんなどのセットメニューで、デザートは柿どら焼き。普通においしい食事でした。柿の葉寿司には渋柿の葉を使うそうです。 店舗では柿の葉寿司だけでなく、お土産も売っています。

    奈良の大和八木で大人気の肉といえば松田さんが移転オープン。 北口の新築ビルの2Fに移動しました。 まず中に入ると圧巻の内装。 席数はカウンターメインとテーブル、個室と使い勝手も良さそう。 料理は16品。 作り置きではなく一つひとつ目の前で仕上げてくれる手の込んだ料理の数々。 素晴らしかったです。 なかなか予約は取れませんが、必ず再訪したいと思います。

    夕方早い時間はお酒が半額になります。また、お寿司があるので、飲めない人や子供連れにはいいと思います。（ふつうの居酒屋だと子供に食べさせるメニューが限られますので・・）。名物と書いている手羽先は辛めでビール好きにはもってこいです。げそ天もなかなかお酒に合いますが大はそれなりにボリュームもあります。

    ランチで寄ってみました。 回らないお寿司屋は久しぶり。 目の前で握ってくださる。 無口な板前さんは勝手な解釈ですが、お寿司屋さんらしいかなと。 平日の昼間にカウンターでゆったりとした時間過ごせました。 ネタも新鮮で美味しかった。

With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
