"A Western confectionary shop located a 10-minute drive from JR Shin-Sanda Station on the Fukuchiyama Line. The shop's most popular item is the ""Koyama Roll,"" a roll cake which was created during the grand champion tournament on TV Tokyo's ""TV Champion."" Created based on the idea that ""simple is best,"" the cake consists of rich whipped cream mixed with a touch of custard and wrapped in a carefully air-fluffed sponge cake. This tasty treat is further accented with a mildly sweet chestnut compote. The shop also offers other select Western-style sweets lovingly crafted by the shop's chef such as baumkuchen."

A pizza restaurant operating out of a renovated old Japanese home situated amidst the lush mountains of Sasayama; the establishment can easily be identified by its large brick oven outside. The restaurant's authentic, Italian-style pizzas, baked in the aforementioned brick oven, are made with an aromatic, chewy homemade crust, flavorful cheese and sauce, and the choicest ingredients. The restaurant's most popular menu selection is the reasonably priced, weekday only lunch set meal, which includes pizza margherita, salad or soup, and your choice of soft drink. The restaurant's two varieties of pasta, made with vaunted sauces; and bacon and slow-boiled egg Caesar salad, are also popular.

This long-established restaurant is located approximately a 10-minute drive from the East Exit of Sasayamaguchi Station on the JR Fukuchiyama Line. It is known for its menu items that are unavailable at the main store. Popular dishes include their mackerel sushi, with big portions and full of fat, and Shishiniku Tororodon, with grated yams dissolved in miso with sweet and sour simmered wild boar meat over rice. The simmer boar meat is cooked for half a day, and goes perfectly with grated mountain yams. There is a tatami room in the quaint and calm shop, where you can enjoy the flavors of Sasayama while relaxing comfortably.

The world's first steak restaurant to feature a fully-fledged Noh stage called the Arima Nogakudo, diners can eat top quality Japanese beef steaks while enjoying Noh theater. The restaurant's stage is used to hold ""Takiginoh"" nighttime Noh shows by firelight by top class performers (advance reservation required) as well as daily live piano and other performances. This Japanese-style confectionery is about eight minutes on foot from JR Fukuchiyama Line's Kaibara Station. The renovated thatched roof shop is housed in the former residence of an Oda clan vassal that was built over 150 years ago. Their cafe offers cake, pastries, and meals featuring local Tamba ingredients, and has a prominent wood-fired oven. The popular lunch set comes with a juicy roasted meat dish, and a roti or a pizza of your choice. Their Tamba Satoyama Pudding made with locally produced eggs and milk comes recommended.

"A restaurant adjoining the JA Tambasasayama Nishiki Ikubyo Center in Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. Facility grows and passes on the knowledge needed to cultivate Tamba Sasayama black soybeans, a variety of black soybean practically essential for New Year's meals in Japan which is the largest in the country and which originated in this area. The restaurant offers a popular ""country style"" buffet consisting of a variety of Japanese rural area-style dishes made by hand using Tamba Sasayama black soybeans and other ingredients from local farms (the buffet is not open while the Sasyama Tezukuri-ichi handmade craft fair is open on the 11th of each month). Visitors can also purchase the restaurant's own plump, tasty kuromame-ni stewed black soybeans in the facility's local specialty products market."

A restaurant which serves old fashioned Japanese cuisine prepared around a traditional irori sunken hearth located a 20-minute drive from the Tannan Sasayamaguchi interchange on the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway. Inside the old fashioned Japanese home-style restaurant, surrounded by abundant natural beauty, diners can sit on a heated floor around an irori hearth and enjoy Hyogo-Ajidori chicken, a variety developed in Hyogo Prefecture; Japanese black beef; and Sasayama beef barbecue and sukiyaki; as well as biwa trout roasted with salt on bamboo skewers and Hyogo-Ajidori chicken miso nabe hotpot (reservation required; parties must consist of at least two people).A particular draw is the restaurant's rich array of mountain foods, such as the seasonal botan nabe boar meat hotpot and the Sasayama beef and Tamba Sasayama matsutake mushroom sukiyaki.

It’s not the easiest to find but worth the drive if you staying at Tamba Sasayama area. The hotpot is done and eaten in very traditional Japanese way. The boar is the must eat in Sasayama and Tamba...

This udon noodle restaurant is located about a 10-minute drive from Tsuna-Ichinomiya Interchange on the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway. There is always a line to get inside the venerable restaurant, which was established over a century ago. Guests can savor Awaji Island Udon, which combines the chewy texture of Osaka udon and the springiness of Sanuki udon. Their most popular item is their famous Onion Tsukemen Hana, features noodles served with a large deep-fried onion flower in a bowl of dipping sauce. The many delicate cuts that have been made in the onion cause it to open like a blooming flower as it is slowly deep fried.

A restaurant located a three-minute walk from JR Aino Station on the Fukuchiyama Line. Owned and operated by Niku no Maruse, a meat company which carries Sanda Maruse beef (Sanda beef) raised on its own farms, the restaurant is notable for cooking and serving many of its dishes on plates made of lava stone from an active volcano. These plates generate an abundance of far infrared rays, which aids in retaining the innate flavor of meat. The restaurant offers a variety of primarily beef dishes, including steaks, sauteed shabushabu, and sukiyaki, and all of the restaurant's sauces are homemade. The lava stone sauteed steak, which can be cooked to your preferred level of doneness, is particularly recommended.

Located in a region where the walls and stone base of ruined Ohara Castle still stand, this restaurant operates out of an old family home which still looks much as it did during the castle's heyday. "A restaurant specializing in Kuroge Wagyu Beef (Japanese black beef). Located about 15 minutes by car from Kobe Sanda Interchange on the Chugoku Expressway. In collaboration with neighboring farms, they have fun things to do: visitors can seasonally enjoy picking strawberries, blueberries, black beans, etc. throughout the year. In addition, customers can enjoy barbecues all season long, which consists of specially selected Japanese black beef and other select ingredients served with ""special salt"" made using an original method that brings out the flavor of the ingredients, or with select BBQ sauce. The most popular dish here is ""the barbecue set including a mix of specially selected Japanese black beef round and sirloin"". You can also enjoy seasonal desserts."

A confection-themed tourism facility located five minutes drive from the Tannan Sasayamaguchi interchange on the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway. Unique, Tamba-style sweets, such as the popular, Japanese-style black soybean and matcha roll cakes, are sold here and no place else. At the cafe operating out of the renovated former Kobe City Waterfall Station, which was moved to this location, visitors can enjoy seasonal cakes and a cup of tea alongside a view of forest and lake. The German building offers fresh, oven baked pizzas, German beer, and sausages. Visitors can also visit a mountain villa moved to the facility which once belonged to a wealthy merchant, as well as an old-fashioned Japanese-style thatched roof home.
