    Designed to be integrate seamlessly into the adjoining Nagisa Park by architect Tadao Ando, the museum was opened in 2002 as one of the largest art museum in Western Japan. Located in Hat Kobe, locals simply call it, “the art museum.” The museum’s collection spans some 9,000 pieces of modern sculptures, woodblock prints, and contemporary art by Japanese and international artists as well as works by Hyogo-born artists such as Ryohei Koiso and Tadanori Yokoo.

    The Platon Decorative Arts Museum is a Western-style building located in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, one of the former residences built for foreign settlers in 1915. The interior of the building is open as an art museum, and has on display furniture and decorations dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, and furniture of the Italian sculptor Victor Aimone. There are many other valuable pieces of work to see such as paintings by Millet, Rousseau and Bonnard, hand-drawn sketches by Jean Cocteau, and sculptures by Rodin. You can enjoy tea or lunch at the poolside cafe in the South European-styled garden with pool.

    This is a trick art museum located in the former residences of early foreign settlers in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. This white walled residence of early foreign settlers was constructed as a residence for Mr. Hilton in the late Meiji period, and after the war, it was also used as the Panama consular office. The interior of the building is divided into six areas such as the “the Illusion World”, “Masterpieces World” and the “the Maze Room”, and there are countless exhibits of trick art which use optical illusions and perspective. At the museum, you can experience for yourself and you can enjoy taking photographs like entering into a painting.

    An art museum in the historic building that used to house the American Consulate. It was constructed in 1898. The wooden single-story Western-style building provides a look at the culture, history, and charm of the Kitano Ijinkan area. It was the first museum in Japan to have exhibits on the National Olive Farm and is the headquarters of the Kitano-Yamamoto Community Association and Kobe International Olive Academy. The permanent exhibition includes lithographs and original drawings by painters associated with Montmartre.
