This is a buta-manju (steamed pork bun) specialist shop established in 1915 in Kobe’s Nankinmachi Chinatown. It is known as the originator of the “buta-manju” and “buta-man,” created when the founders brought the Chinese “tenshin-pozu” to Japan and adapted for Japanese tastes. Fluffy dough overflowing with meat juices, the bun is a Nankinmachi Chinatown favorite with consistent queues to get one. Aside from takeout, there is also an eat-in space available. The nearest station is Motomachi Station.

Soft, flaky pastry around a very salty pork. I wish I could eat these every meal. Or at least every football game drinking beer.

A Chinese restaurant popular for its large menu and reasonable prices located a six-minute walk north of Sannomiya Station. The vaunted Peking duck is cut by a chef right in front of you, making this exquisite dish a form of visual entertainment as well. The restaurant's signature Hong Kong hotpot is actually two different hotpots served at the same time - a flavorful medicinal hotpot and a Sichuan style hotpot - and comes with appetizers and sesame seed dumplings. You can also enjoy Kobe gyoza pot stickers, a local cheap eat served with miso sauce. The restaurant's dishes are made with a top grade variety of garlic from Aomori Prefecture which doesn't cause bad breath.

This place was packed at noon. I enjoyed the noodle stirfry, though the portions were quite small. The pork dumplings were phenomenol but VERY juicy.

A casual Chinese restaurant on the corner of Sannomiya Center Gai Shopping Street. Since its establishment in 1954, it's been serving Chinese food such as pork buns, and gyoza and shumai dumplings. The restaurants are on the building's second and third floors. It's great for a range of occasions, whether you're having a company gathering, bringing the children, or dining alone. Their signature pork buns that they steam right at the storefront have the same great flavor as their early days. They often sell 8,000 buns a day and they continue to be a classic Kobe gift.

A high class Chinese restaurant which was established in 1981. The establishment serves over 100 different dishes, with a focus on traditional Cantonese cuisine. This Chinese restaurant is produced by the long standing Chinese restaurant Shinsenkaku, which was established in Kobe 80 years ago. Designed around the concept of authentic Chinese cuisine served in a relaxing, casual atmosphere, the establishment is much more laid back compared with Shinsenkaku. The menu primarily consists of authentic, spicy Beijing dishes, include Peking duck, steamed chicken, shark fin soup, and stir-fried oysters. The restaurant's dishes made with seasonal ingredients, only available at certain times of the year, are also popular.

A yakiniku Japanese-style grill-it-yourself barbecue restaurant offering Kobe beef located a one-minute walk from the subway Sannomiya Station. Owned and operated by a meat company, the restaurant is an authorized Kobe beef purveyor. The restaurant's semi-private booth seating can be rearranged using partitions depending on the number of people in your party and the establishment is capable for catering to very small to large groups. Certificates of authenticity from specially contracted farms and cattle pedigree papers are posted inside, attesting to the quality of the Kobe beef the restaurant provides. The restaurant flavors its meat with specially chosen Mongolian rock salt. Because of its connection to a meat company, the restaurant's menu is filled with rare and choice cuts.

"An authentic Cantonese cuisine restaurant located in the Nankinmachi Chinatown a three-minute walk from JR Motomachi Station. Surrounded by traditional Chinese style decor, customers can enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine suited to Japanese tastes. One of the most popular course meals on the menu and a recommended dinner selection is the ""Ryukyo Kaisen Course,"" a seafood course which consists of eight of some of the most beloved Chinese dishes, including bird's nest soup, a four variety dim sum assortment, Chilean abalone in oyster sauce, and shark fin stew with noodles (advance reservation required; must be made no later than one day in advance). The lunch menu is also recommended, such as the one person lunch course, which comes with shark fin soup."

"A Chinese restaurant known for its steamed pork buns and ramen located close to the Seianmon Gate in the Nankinmachi Chinatown. The restaurant's steamed pork buns, cubed char siu roast pork and shiitake mushrooms wrapped in a chewy dough, are long sellers that also make great gifts and souvenirs. Or you can order some for takeout out and enjoy them while walking around town. The restaurant's popular ""Chuka soba"" ramen consists of a perfect balance of thin noodles in a light, pork bone and meat soy sauce broth. The restaurant also offers a steamed pork bun making class in which you can make your every own authentic pork bun just like the establishment serves or in whatever shape you like (advance reservation required; for groups of two to four people)."

We walked past this restaurant on Motomachi and decided to try. It was amazing!!!!! Very clean, great service and of course, delicious food. Very good price too. I strongly recommend it!

A hideaway style Chinese bistro frequently featured in the media located in a back alley a three-minute walk from JR Motomachi Station. Here diners can enjoy authentic Cantonese cuisine made with pride by a chef who honed his skills in Hong Kong, the beating heart of Cantonese food, using fresh ingredients personally stocked by the Vegetable Sommelier-certified owner. The exquisite shark fin stew and shark fin soup, made with blue shark fin from Aomori Prefecture, is one dish you'll want to try at least once in your life. Also recommended is the beef stew, made with slow-stewed, tender beef rib meat and seasoned with a subtle hint of star anise.

This restaurant is at the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway's Awaji Service Area. It has a wide variety of Japanese and Western dishes available, made with lots of seasonal Awaji Island ingredients. Their Awaji beef loin steak on rice smothered in a special sauce made with loads of Awaji grown onion comes recommended. They also have a curry in a small pot bursting with the tentacles of locally harvested octopus that's quite popular.

The establishment serves food which is based on authentic Chinese cuisine but makes use of ingredients and less oil to create dishes that are lighter in flavor. In addition to authentic Hong Kong yum cha dishes and Shanghai style shark fin soup, during lunchtime the restaurant offers Cantonese rice porridge and soup noodle sets, weekly lunch specials, and yum cha courses.

This Chinese restaurant located in Kobe’s Nankinmachi Chinatown is known for having long lines at peak time. The Cantonese food menu they offer is particular about the production areas of the ingredients and makes use of their original flavor. The squid tempura, one of their standard menu items since their founding, is popular for its simple and yet irresistible taste. Dishes that makes use of the food unique to Kobe such as the stir-fry using grade A5 Kobe beef are also popular. The nearest station is Motomachi Station.

Daidoko is a Chinese restaurant in Nankinmachi, the Chinatown of Kobe, mainly selling different kinds of dumplings like nikuman, gyoza, and tonporoman. Their black nikuman, which uses squid ink to make the dumpling dough a black color, is filled with plenty of pork from Miyazaki and soft cabbage and is what this restaurant is famous for. You can also pick up some spicy Sichuan-style burgers, and Chinese chimaki (rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in leaves), great to take away with you. They also have an area inside if you prefer to sit down and eat. The nearest station is Motomachi Station.

Liang You RYOYU is a Chinese restaurant located about two minutes on foot from Motomachi Station. It’s a spin-off from the famous Cantonese restaurant, Ryoyu-Shuke. The restaurant is famous for its hot pot which can be ordered without booking in advance. The hot pot is eaten with two types of soups in one pot, a simple chicken bone broth and a hot mala sauce soup with plenty of spices. Between 16–37 different kinds of fresh ingredients, such as seafood like crab and Japanese tiger prawns, meat and vegetables help to bring out the rich flavor of the soup. Shaomai (traditional Chinese dumplings) and gyoza (another kind of dumpling) made by genuine dim sum chefs are also very popular.
