Dotonbori’s famous Glico sign seems to be peering into the Dotonbori River; meanwhile, a giant crab sign moves in a perpetual dance. Crowded with restaurants and lined with giant signs, Dotonbori is a bustling entertainment district where visitors can truly experience Osaka—the city of kuidaore (extravagant eating). Have a bite at a shop selling kushiage (fried vegetable and meat skewers) or okonomiyaki (savory pancakes filled with meat and vegetables), Osaka specialties. Or spend a day visiting the various takoyaki (octopus dumplings) or butaman (steamed pork bun) restaurants. Day and night, this lively thoroughfare is frequented by great numbers of tourists.

The poster child of Osaka. Business area for everything, and l mean everything. From takoyaki to electric massage chair to drones. Everything is in here, so is everyone. Get ready for the human bumps.

Osaka Castle was built by the Imperial Regent Toyotomi Hideyoshi between 1583 and 1598. The castle was built on a magnificent scale, but was destroyed just 17 years later after the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the destruction of the Toyotomi clan in the Siege of Osaka in 1615. Thereafter, the castle was rebuilt by the Tokugawa shogunate under the command of Todo Takatora but was once again lost due to a fire caused by a lightning strike. The current castle tower is the third generation to stand here and was completed in 1931 through donations from local citizens. The interior of the castle is a history museum and visitors can enjoy information about the history of Osaka Castle and dioramas. The castle was registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 1997.

One of the reasons to visit Osaka. Great for history buffs like me. Just too crowded but still worth the travel and walk.

Their tonkotsu broth is a closely guarded secret refined over many years. Come taste the unique flavor of their noodles paired with a secret blend of chili pepper in their tonkotsu ramen. Ichiran's famous solo counter spaces are also available for the single customer.

Tonbori River Cruise is a sightseeing cruise boat which tours the Dotonbori River, one of the famous attractions in Osaka. It departs from Tazaemonbashi Wharf in front of the Don Quijote Dotonbori branch and goes under nine bridges while you see the sights of the Minami area of Osaka. This shrine is on the Midosuji Road, five minutes' walk from Honmachi underground Station. It was built in the time of Emperor Hansei, and it is said that Emperor Nintoku was enshrined here as a deity when the Shibagaki no Miya palace was opened. Additionally, Uemura Bunrakuken's puppet theater was held on the grounds, which are said to be a place of origin for bunraku. There is also a monument to Inari Shrine Bunraku outside the Eastern gate. Every year, a Chinkon-sai (a festival of the dead) is held in February. They pray for the repose of the souls of the departed, using balls which have five-colored strings tied to them. One of the blessings that can be gained is that of good health, and if you apply in advance, you can receive a glass ball with five colored strings to tie to it.

This theater is located in 1-Chome Dotonbori. Modeled after the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the theater was opened as the first Western-style theater in the Kansai region in 1923. The theater's impressive front entrance sports a grand Neo-Renaissance-style arch. The theater's European-style entrance is on the first floor; concessions and sofas are positioned around the second floor lobby, and floors three through five are for audience seating. In 1997, facilities were upgraded and added while leaving the front entrance in its original condition. The theater hosts kabuki, shinpa, and Shochiku Shinkigeki plays as well as reviews, musicals, concerts, and more.

Okonomiyaki CHIBO is a restaurant specializing in Okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), located in Dotonbori in the Chuo Ward of Osaka City. The restaurant’s original pancake mix—which is made from around 20 different types of flour mixed with high-quality onsen water—ensures plump pancakes with a mellow flavor. Okonomiyaki CHIBO pays particular attention to its sauces, which play a key role in enhancing the flavor; the restaurant’s low-calorie original sauces are made using carefully-selected fruits and vegetables. The spacious dining area, with around 200 seats, is kept spotlessly clean, and the restaurant is a popular choice for dates and for women to get together with their female friends.

Delicious and fun watching the cooks perform. Food was great and every well priced. Portions are huge and the staff very friendly. Recommending to share one portion of okonomiyaki for two.

Commercial buildings in central Semba. The buildings are ten, looking like supporting the Hanshin Expressway, with the first through third are serving as a wholesale market, fourth through ninth are for wholesale textile stores, and the tenth is a shopping center filled with specialty stores. Its major characteristic is its direct access to the Midosuji Line / Central Line Honmachi Station and the Sakaisuji Line / Central Line Honmachi Station, where three lines meet at four different stations. The shopping center comes complete with its own car park, and customers can enter the shops without ever getting wet in the rain. And, with the various restaurants and cafes centered in the underground area, it is always full of tourists and families, making it a very lively place.

Went there earlier in 2015 and love to shop stationery in the basement shop but this time not as much selection as before. But luckily bought some super bargain scarf.
