    Osaka Osakashi Kita-ku Kokubunji 1-3-4
Takoyaki Tamaya specializes in takoyaki (octopus dumplings), the classic Osaka “junk food.” The restaurant owner, who trained as a chef in France, has refined this dish through the development of new types of pork bone broth and vegetable broth (as well as lobster broth) to cook the dumplings in. An impressive range of toppings is available, including not only the standard mustard and mayonnaise, but also more unusual toppings such as rock salt, garlic and soy sauce, and curry. It is also possible to order some really distinctive menu items, such as takoyaki in bean sauce.

This place might not look like much from the outside but the takoyaki is simply wonderful. Get the takoyaki assortment to try all the flavours on offer. Delicious!

Chicken carcass is added to the vegetable and fruit soup and a Japanese style soup stock such as kombu is blended to make a high quality batter dough. At the restaurant, they are particular about using seasonal vegetables and fruits to add to their soup. They favor the original Osaka takoyaki flavor using simple ingredients. Using a heavy custom made iron plate, they carefully grill at a high temperature, and the scent and sweetness of the hidden ingredients in the soup comes alive.

This takoyaki octopus dumpling stand is the most popular one in the Shinsekai area. The stand's takoyaki, cooked up on one of several dedicated griddles lined up in a row, is both reasonably priced and delicious.
