    This authentic tearoom was built for the purpose of promoting Uji tea and popularizing Japanese tea ceremony. In addition to serving delicious Uji tea, it also offers tea-serving experiences. While usucha (weak matcha tea), sencha (medium-grade green tea), and gyokuro (high-grade green tea) can be enjoyed without a reservation, some of the teahouse's offerings including all tea ceremony experiences require a reservation made three days in advance. Make sure to check which offerings require reservation ahead of time.

    This hands-on facility where you can learn about Uji tea culture is located about an eight-minute walk from Keihan Railway's Uji Station in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. In the workshop, you can experience making matcha (finely ground green tea) with a stone mill and making hojicha (roasted green tea), and enjoy a tea ceremony in the tea room. In addition, you can also get a taste of treats such as tea, matcha ice cream parfaits and tea soba noodles in the Fukuju Saryo. This popular spot is visited by many tourists both inside and outside Japan.

    A strawberry farm located a short walk southwest of the Keiji Bypass getting off near the Uji River. For half the year from the end of December to around the end of May, visitors can enjoy strawberry picking here. The farm offers a 20 minute all-you-can-eat strawberry picking course; customers can bring their own sweet condensed milk for enjoying with the berries. Stroller and wheelchair users can also enter the farm. Note that strawberry picking is reservation only but visitors may be able to go strawberry picking without a reservation by checking the day of, and meanwhile a reservation may need to be changed due to poor weather. Although customers can not pick strawberries to take home, the farm has a shop where you can purchase strawberries.
