- This Japanese variety shop is about five minutes on foot from Kitano-Hakubaicho Station on the Kitano Line in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. They have an array of handmade items, including coin purses made with Japanese patterned chirimen silk crepe and stuffed toys. Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is nearby, so lots of tourists from Japan and abroad drop by.

Nakamura Shoten has been selling candles and incense sticks since its founding in the 19th century, and it is the official purveyor of such items to Kurama-dera Temple. In the shop, customers will find ordinary candles, picture candles hand decorated by yuzen craftsmen, and floating candles. Candles are becoming more and more popular.
