Kaze no Yakata sells mobiles in a shop located along the Philosopher's Walk in Kyoto's Sakyo Ward. The building, constructed in a mixture of Japanese and Western styles with a glass front, is packed with mobiles of all kinds, standing ones and hanging ones that sway gently in perfect balance. In addition, the shop sells a lot of themed items typical of Kyoto, such as kinu temari, ornamental balls made of silk thread. The shop also sells seasonal decorative items.

Kyoto Areas

around-area-map

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
