- Kyoto prefecture Kyoto city Higashiyama ku Maruyama park Chirene In front of the Minamige
- Imobo Hiranoya Honten is a venerable Kyoto-style restaurant located near Maruyama Park and Chion-in Temple in a quiet, atmospheric building surrounded by shrines and temples. A long tatami room with a narrow street facade, as is typical of Kyoto, the restaurant has been serving kaiseki cuisine centered on imobo for 300 years. A traditional Kyoto dish, made by boiling taro with dried cod, it is simple but has a rich flavor, which brings customers back time and again for more. An Imobo Tray, with imobo and side dishes such as Gion tofu, is very popular and serves as an easy introduction to this dish.

A good choice to eat Kyoto traditional Imobou in an authentic Japanese Restaurant. I ate the summer limited edition set and I was not disappointed.

- Kyoto Kyoto-shi Higashiyama-ku Gionmachikitagawa 297
- This chazuke (green tea broth over rice) shop is managed by Kyoto pickle specialist Gion Kawakatsu. Located about seven minutes' walk from Gion-Shijo station, the shop is found in front of Yasaka-jinja shrine and is marked by its red lanterns and wooden pickle barrels. They offer a chazuke dish with 11 kinds of seasonal pickles, including soy sauce-preserved burdock root, cucumber tsuntsunzuke with wasabi and soy sauce, and more. These pickled vegetables are an excellent, healthy source of fiber, minerals, vitamins and other nutrients that are often lacking in modern diets. The gentle, warm chazuke is also an excellent way to refresh your tired body. They also have rice with whitebait, whitebait chazuke, and eel chazuke.

- Kyoto Kyoutoshi Higashiyama-ku Gionmachiminamigawa 506-1
- This restaurant for Kyoto cuisine is located close to the southern entrance of the Kyoto sightseeing spot Yasaka Shrine’s Minami Romon gate, and is the sister shop of Kyoto Cuisine Ume-Mura where Ito Hirobumi regularly stayed. Located in a restored old Japanese house, its appearance is also attractive for its full Kyoto ambience. For lunch the popular choice is the Koto Bento lunch box in which sashimi, fried food and takiawase (different types of boiled food) are packed into a container shaped like a plum, while for dinner the gorgeous and authentic Koto Kaiseki course is popular. Amidst a relaxing Japanese-style atmosphere enjoy the taste of traditional Kyoto cuisine that makes the most of the flavors of seasonal ingredients and is prepared with delicate craftsmanship. The closest station is Gion-Shijo Station.

It sits at the corner of Yasaka shrine and entrance to Maruyama Park. Nice location but traffic is low volume. Perhaps the pricing is not catered to the masses! The bento boxes looks wonderful and it...

Prices, especially for dinner are absurdly high. Appetizers are tasteless and of low quality. The Shabu Shabu menu is mediocre. Actually one has to pay more than €150 per person for a disputable...

Kyoto Areas
Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
