Doi Shibazuke Honpo, located in Kyoto's Sakyo Ward, specializes in tsukemono pickled vegetables. It sells many varieties and combination packs of tsukemono and other popular products. Customers can look through a glass partition to watch the production processes going on in the plant. Groups can make reservations to tour the rooms where the tsukemono are aged. Tourists visit this shop to enjoy the genuine taste of Shiba tsukemono.

This is a regular spot for my family, but I think given the easy bus service from Kyoto station, it would be good for any foreign visitors. As other posters have said, tsukemono - Japanese pickles...

This historic manufacturer of Japanese tea started as a tea cultivation and manufacturing operation in 1688. Today, it is also involved in the sale of tea and is a familiar name to tea lovers across Japan. If you make a reservation one week in advance of your visit, you can tour the matcha tea factory, sample the matcha tea, and even learn how to make matcha tea.

We had an excellent tour with Seima of the matcha factory which covered the matcha production process from start to finish. The tour costs 500 yen but you get a 500 yen voucher to spend in their...

This is a Coca Cola West factory in Kumiyama-cho, Kuse-gun, Kyoto Prefecture. Each day they hold a free to reserve Magical Factory Tour. On the tour one can see the canned coffee production line (Georgia) and enjoy learning about the history and production process behind Coca Cola. It takes around 90 minutes to see everything. There is also a free drink corner and a corner selling original goods.

Kyoto Areas

around-area-map

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
