    Kyoto Kyoto-shi Higashiyama-ku Gionmachiminamigawa 570-155
This Italian restaurant is less about choosing a dish from a menu, and more about the day's fresh seafood, seasonal ingredients, and recommended cooking style. The wide, stylish interior is hard to imagine from the stately exterior, and the luxurious wood grain, along with the lack of set menu, help this shop really stand out. The staff offer excellent explanations of the day's food, and customers only need to give their preferences or mood to get the perfect dish. They also have a sommelier-selected wine list to pair with their dishes for a bit of grown-up fun.

We went there twice seeking a reservation as we stayed nearby the restaurants, we have asked for table for two but the guy was so kind but could not understand French or English, he was kind enough...

    Kyoto Kyoto-shi Kita-ku Kamigamotakanawatecho 36-1
This cafe focuses on dishes made with carefully selected natural ingredients. The shop is located in a quiet residential district north on Kitayama-dori street near the Kyoto Botanical Gardens, and strives to make food that results in smiling faces. The chef is particularly proud of the hamburger steak topped with the house-made demiglace sauce. It's made with 100% additive free beef for a thick, tender, hand-made delight. The beef cutlet and beef stew, made with top grade beef from Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, or the Chami pork loin cutlet with select Kagoshima pork, are all very popular.

This French restaurant is in a quiet residential district seemingly distant from the city center, about ten minutes' drive from Kitaoji subway station. The building has the aura of a top class restaurant in the French suburbs, and offers truly authentic French cuisine. The chef has worked at Michelin Three-star restaurants and was once employed as the head chef of a French eatery here in Japan. The shop is loved for its care with ingredients, selecting the finest ingredients from Japan and imported from France. They also can book the restaurant out for groups of 30 up, so it's popular for birthday and anniversary parties, or wedding banquets.

Their excellent Ronde Burger comes recommended. Limited to 10 a day, it's made with a 120-gram domestic beef patty.

Kyoto Areas

around-area-map

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
