Kyoto Kyoto-shi Nakagyo-ku Shinmachi Dori Oike Sagaru Shinmeicho 72
This Kyoto cuisine restaurant is about five minutes' walk from Karasuma Oike Station, or ten minutes' walk from Nijo castle, on Shinmachi-dori avenue. It once did business in the Ryoutonzushi district, but moved to its current location in 2018. The cozy little restaurant has counter seating and one table, and offers a wide variety of Kyoto cuisine. The lunch course menu has been known for high value since before it moved, with appetizers steeped in rich dashi broth, lightly flavored bowl dishes, perfectly seasoned grilled and fried dishes, and more. It is often full, so reservations are highly recommended.

A five-minute walk from Keifuku Electric Railroad Arashiyama Station and a 10-minute walk from Saga-Arashiyama Station. Open to small groups from one to a maximum of 10 people, here customers can enjoy unique Kyoto cuisine such as a Saga boiled tofu tempura meal and a raw yuba tofu skin meal. The restaurant's original selections such as its yuba fondue meal, made with tofu skin and cheese, are also recommended. Kyoto Kyoto-shi Higashiyama-ku Front Dori Honmachi Nishiiru Shomencho 304
This restaurant in the temple-rich area of Higashiyama, where you will find Kiyomizu-dera, Rokuharamitsu-ji, and Rengeoin Sanjusangendo, has been using its noren curtain since its founding 370 years ago. Legend says this shop found its beginning in the Kan-ei years of the Edo period, when a tea shop was opened in the former home of tactician Ishida Mitsunari. Their flagship Chikuyaki is made by cooking fish and vegetables inside green bamboo. The seasonal seafood and land dishes are redolent with the aroma of bamboo for a dish that tantalizes all five senses. You can enjoy your meal in the atmosphere of a building designated an important historical design by the city of Kyoto.

Have walkin to this restaurant around 17:00 Japan time, there are many customers eating their famous crab dinner. I have ordered their sabbu sabbu crab set, very yummy although quite expensive for...

    Kyoto Kyoto-shi Higashiyama-ku Kiyomizu 4-161-6 Kiyomizu Building 1F
"This Japanese restaurant located along Gojozaka serves authentic Kyo-ryori (Kyoto cuisine). Following their motto ""always cook with a spirit of wishing to serve customers something delicious,"" the restaurant continues to create that truly satisfies their customers. Despite being located in the middle of the Gojozaka district, which is best known for its refined and elegant Kiyomizu ware, the restaurant does not have an overly formal atmosphere. Instead, it has a notably approachable vibe that makes it popular with students, families, and people casually dining alone. Their kaiseki cuisine, which capitalizes on seasonal ingredients, is becoming increasingly popular for featuring many tastes of Kyoto such as obanzai (a simple traditional cuisine of Kyoto), namayuba (tofu skin) sashimi, yosedofu (silken tofu curds), and goma-dofu (sesame tofu). Reservations made at least a day in advance are required."

    Kyoto Kyoto-shi Kita-ku Takagaminekitatakagaminecho 40
This restaurant is about 30 minutes' drive from Kyoto Station, inside a hotel in the Takagamine area, near to a number of ancient temples like Genko-an or Koetsu-ji. It is surrounded by the beauty of the foothills of the Kitayama mountain range, known as Kitayama Cedars, and offers the fruits of the mountains all year round in various seasonal dishes. In summer they have hamo pike conger, in fall matsutake mushrooms, and in winter they have blowfish, all served in dishes that are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate. The shop is loved for how its dishes bring out the flavor of their ingredients to their utmost, whether it's hamo shabu-shabu hotpot or sushi, matsutake rice, or boiled blowfish. Their mini-kaiseki Nenju Manpuku Zen and Koetsu dim sum meals, featuring the flavor of the seasons with a Kyoto flair, are also quite popular.

Kyoto Prefecture Kyoto City Higashiyama Ward Yasaka Shrine South Minato Le Rock stone wall street
A Kyoto obanzai home cooking restaurant located on the beautiful stone paved Ishibekoji alley close to the Kodai-ji Zen Temple in Kyoto City's Higashiyama Ward. Situated inside a two-story remodeled private home built in the Meiji period, the restaurant's design truly gives diners the opportunity to fully enjoy the elegance of Kyoto, including a refined counter area, tatami seating overlooking a nearby five tier pagoda, and a charming inner garden. The counter is always covered with giant bowls of obanzai cuisine lovingly prepared with seasonal ingredients. The “mamecha no obanzai-bako” box containing seven varieties of obanzai dishes is a particularly popular menu choice.

    Kyoto Kyoutoshi Higashiyama-ku Sennyujitourinchou 37
This old restaurant offering Kyoto cuisine near famous autumn leaves viewing spot Tofuku-ji Temple is proud of its fresh fish dishes stretching back to the first generation owner who operated a fish market. The seafood that the chef obtains himself from the market is outstanding in both flavor and freshness. The mackerel sushi with its fatty topping and salt seasoning is an exquisite local specialty. The colorful course meals full of Kyoto vegetables are all well renowned, with the Square Bento at lunch and Kyoto Course in the evening being popular. The closest station is Tofukuji Station.

This veteran restaurant specializing in Kyoto cuisine is just five minutes on foot from Karasuma Station on the Hankyu Line in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City. You can dine on elegant kaiseki cuisine, and their Rakuchumi, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, has been handed down since the restaurant's founding. With private rooms and a large hall, it's also a popular venue for banquets and entertaining.

But I could not stop thinking what I could have done with the money spent here. It is an experience and you are served in by a member of staff very meticulously, but it was not miles ahead of many...

    Kyoto Kyoutoshi Higashiyama-ku Gionmachiminamigawa 577-1

Kyoto Areas

around-area-map

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
