    A shopping arcade filled with shops extending from Nishiki Tenman-gu Shrine one block north of Shijo Street to Karasuma-dori Avenue. Some 400 years have passed since the area was granted the title of fish wholesaler by the Edo shogunate government in 1615, and the arcade is also known as the “Kitchen of Kyoto.” Roughly 390 meters long, a variety of restaurants, cafes, and knickknack shops, and grocery stores line the arcade selling seasonal fresh fish and Kyoto vegetables, Kyoto pickles, tsukudani foods preserved in soy sauce, dried goods, tofu, cookware, and tableware.

The street is full of unique things you can snack on while walking, such as yuba (tofu skin) cream croquettes from Hanayori Kiyoe, or charcoal grilled mitarashi dango (rice dough dumplings with sweet-salty sauce) from Nishiki Mochitsukiya.

    This long-established shopping street in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City runs from Horikawa Sanjo to Senbon Sanjo. Approximately 800 meters in length, it is the largest in west Japan. With approximately 180 stores such as restaurants and specialty shops lining the street, not only tourists but local residents also go there to get anything they need.

    京都三条会商店街は、日曜日に訪問しましたが、コロナのせいで、活気がありません、しまっている店も多かったです。

    At the northernmost part of Rakuchu, the shopping street has a monster theme based on the legend that monsters called Tsukumogami marched down the Ichijo street. This fun shopping street holds events such as Ichijo Hyakki-Yagyo (Night Parade of One Hundred Monsters), the largest event held by the Taishogun Shopping Street held every summer, and the monster flea market, Mononoke Market. On the third Saturday of every October, the area becomes lively with a parade of people in monster costumes.

    日曜日行きましたが、最近は人出が多いしお店も結構開いています。今回行ったのは献血センター、最近献血する人が少ないという話を聞きますがここは割と混んでいます。ここには京アニメが扱った漫画をはじめ人気漫画が置いているので待ち時間も楽しめますよ。

    三条通りのレトロ建築を西から見学したいったら寺町通りのところでこの商店街にかなり変わりました。ついでなので中を少し歩きましたが、まあごくありふれた商店街でした。この後で歩いた新京極などのほうが活気がありました。
