    A long-standing Japanese confectionary shop established in 1809 located in 1 Chome Hon-machi, Hikone City. The shop sells sweets such as its signature “Umoregi,” inspired by the Umoreginoya where Ii Naosuke spent his youth, and other tasty treats inspired by Naosuke and Hikone made with homemade bean jam and wasanbon fine-grained Japanese sugar. The shop also sells seasonal Japanese sweets and Western Japanese fusion sweets like unbaked cheesecake made with Dainagon azuki beans.

These bars make for popular souvenirs for visitors to the Taga Taisha shrine.

    A 10-minute walk from Ohmi Railway Tagataishamae Station. This longstanding Japanese confectionary shop, established in 1879, is located in front of the gate leading to the Taga Taisha shrine. Operated by the sixth generation owner, the shop continues to make itokiri mochi rice cakes, a local Taga specialty product notable for being made exclusively with rice flour and for their smooth texture and delicate flavor. In addition to standard itokiri mochi, the shop also sells spring-only Japanese mugwort itokiri mochi, summer-only itokiri mochi shaved ice, and Ogon Kichi Takarabo itokiro mochi only during the first three days of January and on Setsubun (February 3rd). The itokiri mochi sets, crispy Itokiri Brulee with matcha or sencha green tea, which can be eaten on-site, are also popular.

    多賀大社参拝の後、名物の糸切餅を食べてみたいので、3個入りの販売があったので購入しました。 賞味期限が短いので、沢山入った箱入りは食べきれず、イートインに寄るほど時間がなかったので、3個入り販売があって助かりました。 糸で切れるほどの柔らかさのお餅で柔らかいこしあんを包んであり、ドライブ途中の休憩で食べるのにちょうど良い甘さで美味しく頂きました。 お店はかやぶき屋根、創業は明治13年の老舗です。

    This longstanding restaurant is located in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The restaurant serves fresh fish from Lake Biwa prepared according to traditional methods. For lunch, you can enjoy the reservation-only Omi beef lunch, which comes with a variety of side dishes; and broiled eel slathered in a secret recipe sauce which has been added on to for 200 years. The restaurant's omakase (chef's choice) dinners consist of delightful traditional kaiseki course cuisine made with fresh seasonal ingredients. In addition, the restaurant serves unique seasonal dishes, such as a matsutake mushroom and daggertooth pike conger hotpot, and a soft-shelled turtle hotpot in the fall and summer. Meanwhile, in the winter and spring, the restaurant offers duck hotpot.

    A teahouse located on the grounds of Hikone Castle. The elegant, mountain pass-style teahouse boasts a sweeping view overlooking the castle tower and town below. Customers can enjoy matcha green tea and Japanese confections in the teahouse' tatami mat seating area. The teahouse's sweets are provided by Osuga, a Japanese confectionary shop situated in Hikone City's Chuo Shopping Street which creates regionally-inspired confections such as Konki jelly. Customers can hear the nearby Jihogane time-keeping bell, whose sound was selected from inclusion in the 100 Soundscapes of Japan list compiled by the Ministry of the Environment, at 9 a.m., noon, and 3 p.m. In addition, there are tourist information books about the Hikone area in the teahouse, making it a great place to gather information as well.

    "A 15-minute walk from JR Hikone Station. This elegant building stands on an artificial hill in the Genkyuen Garden adjoining Hikone Castle. A reception hall once used by the lords of the domain to entertain guests, today it is used as a teahouse. From the sukiya-zukuri-style structure's tatami mat room, customers can take in a view of the scrupulously maintained garden and enjoy matcha tea made with the spring water of Juo Village, counted as one of the three famous ""Kotosanzan (trio of large Tendai Buddhist temples famous in eastern Shiga Prefecture)"" spring waters; along with confectionary shop Itoju Kaho's renowned Umoregi dumplings. The teahouse is a great place to take a break while exploring Hikone Castle and the surrounding area."

    Very relaxing to have Matcha. I felt troublesome to take off my shoes so I had at the engawa terrace. The lady told me the best spot to enjoy the view of Hikone Castle. Very memorable moments.

    彦根の友人の自宅に向かう際に、ちょうど誕生日が近くケーキを購入していきました 。８号線からベルロードに向かう途中にあります。駐車場も広く良かったです。やはり、シャトレーゼはリーズナブルですね。三千円ほどでホールのケーキを購入できました。

    彦根の来来亭の向かいにあります。全国にある焼き肉チェーンですが、ここ最近は、店舗が減った気がします。友人と夕食に来ました。食べ放題のコースが何個かあって、２９８０円のコースにしました。サラダ、キムチなどもあるので満腹です。お肉も値段の割には柔らかく美味しかったです。

    宿泊していたホテルのそばにあり夕食で利用しました。場所は彦根駅から彦根城に向かう途中にあるビルの5階です。夕食で妻と二人で餃子、担々麺と天津飯をシェアしていただきました。餃子は平均的な感じのもので、担々麺は辛さ控えめ誰でもいただける感じです。天津飯は酸味があまりなく、カニが少し入っています。手軽に利用できる中華料理店でした。
