    Shiga Otsu-shi Sakamoto 4-11-43

This longstanding Japanese confectionary shop was established around a century ago and can be reached by taking a right at the Sakamoto Citizens' Center and then taking the next left. Particularly recommended both to enjoy yourself and to give as souvenirs are the exquisite Hiei no Osaru-san, a monaka wafer cake shaped like the monkeys which are the guardian deities of the Enryakuji Temple, Saikyoji Temple, and Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine; and the famous soba manju buns, which consist of a buckwheat flour dough which goes perfectly with a coarse sweet bean paste filling. The shop also sells special seasonal Japanese confections, and displays confectionary artworks.
