    Shiga Koka-shi Konancho Shinji 696
A three-minute drive from the Konan Interchange on the Shin-Meishin Expressway. This ranch, identifiable by its blue silos, is situated amidst the rolling hills of Koka no Sato. Keeping some three hundred milk cows, goats, sheep, ponies, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs, and cats, the farm is open to the public and visitors can interact and play with the animals. In addition to wide open pastureland with spectacular views, farm highlights include flower beds planted with seasonal flowers, and a springtime avenue of cherry trees. Facilities include a barbecue house, gelato shop, and a wagon selling seasonal fruit and vegetables.

The animals are very well looked after, and trust people to feed and pat them. Lots of farm animals and babies. Handmade ice cream, waffles, and pudding.

Visitors to Shiga prefecture are almost always hopping east across the prefectural border from Kyoto, and they are almost certainly Lake Biwa-bound. Covering an area of 670 square kilometers, Lake Biwa makes up the bulk of Shiga prefecture, with beautiful lakeside paths that offer myriad walking and cycling opportunities, connecting a string of museums, shrines, and picturesque views that finally lead you to Hikone Castle on the eastern side of the lake.
