    Mie Toba Toba 2-12-3
This Buddhist temple is located in 2-Chome Toba, Toba City. The temple was founded in 1607 after Kuki Moritaka remodeled the Daifuku-ji Temple to memorialize the passing of his father, Kuki Yoshitaka. Becoming the family temple of the Kuki clan, its grounds are the location of the graves of successive generations of Kuki clan members. The temple also owns a gong and stone lantern donated by Moritaka. In addition, the temple's inner study also famously accommodated Emperor Meiji when he stopped at Toba during the Satsuma Rebellion.

    Mie Toba Osatsucho 1241
"This Buddhist temple is located in Osatsu-cho, Toba City. The temple was founded some 700 years ago on the order of Emperor Go-Daigo. The temple's principal object of worship is an 11-headed Kanzeon Bodhisattva statue; the temple also possesses 600 scrolls written with the text of the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra which have been designated a Cultural Property by the city. An ancient sago palm over 700 years old, known as the ""Choju Sotetsu"" (""Long Life Palm""), also stands on the grounds."

    Mie Toba Adakocho 191
This Buddhist temple stands on Prefectural Route 47 in Adako-cho, Toba City. Records state it was built by Hojo Tokiyori, fifth regent of the Kamakura shogunate, and the temple is known for its strong ties to Kamakura. In recent years, the temple holds interesting programs, such as the Tera de Cafe program (advance reservation required), in which you can enjoy a cup of tea while chatting with the head priest.

around-area-map

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
