    Mie Pref. Tobashi Toba 3-4-32
This veteran udon noodle shop is in the Toba of Toba City. They've been making the local favorite Ise udon with the traditional flavor in the more than 50 years since they opened, pairing a large portion of udon noodles with a tamari soy sauce broth. They use thick Ise noodles delivered fresh every morning from their sister shop. Their chilled Tempura Zaru Udon is available in the summertime, and their Kaki-no-Tama Tojinabe Udon oyster hot pot is available from October to March. Both come recommended, as does their Tegone Zushi Zen Japanese set meal with loads of local ingredients, available year-round.

Mie Areas

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
