Mie Pref. Miegunkomonochou Komono Hot spring mountain
This is the highest peak of the Suzuka Mountains, located in Komono Town, Mie County, Mie Prefecture. A park is maintained at the summit, in addition to the Fujimi-iwa Observatory and the Japanese Antelope Center. Visitors can ride to the summit on the Gozaisho Ropeway or hike up one of the various mountain trails. The walking routes vary in difficulty from beginner to intermediate and hard. A variety of flowers bloom in each season, as well as the red leaves in the fall, and frost covering the trees in the winter. There is also Yunohana Hot Spring at the foot of the mountain, where visitors can rest from their climbing and walking.

    Mie Shima-shi Isobecho Matoya
This mountain is located in Matoya, Isobe-cho, Shima City. Offering a sweeping view of Matoya Bay, when the area was a flourishing port where ships waited for favorable winds, sailors would climb this mountain to check the weather out to sea. A replica compass stone standing on the mountain (the original is in the collection of the Shima City Museum of History and Folklore) hints at this past.

    Mie Tsu-shi Wakebe
This mountain is located on the north side of Tsu City. It is around 320 meters high. Easily accessible from downtown Tsu City, the mountain is a place where people can enjoy hiking with relative ease, and from the top you can take in a sweeping view of Ise Bay and the city. The Chokokuji Temple, which enshrines a stone Buddhist statue connected to samurai lord Todo Takatora, is also situated halfway up the mountain on the southwest side.

Mie Areas

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
