Founded in 1909 and located near the Outer Shrine of Ise Jingu Shrine, Butasute has been serving its specialty, Wagyu beef, for over 100 years. Since they deal only in Ise meat, painstakingly selected with expertise handed down from the Meiji Period and insist on using Ise and Iga cattle, customers can enjoy meat from domestically produced black-coated breeds at a reasonable price. Besides set meals such as Salisbury steak and grilled meat, there are many other dishes that are available only at the Outer Shrine restaurant. Two popular options include croquettes for take-out or Butasute's famous Gyudon (beef over rice).

We had a premium gyudon (beef rice bowl) and hot plate Japanese style hamburger. Both were great and beef quality was wonderful. Reasonably priced not expensive at all. The restaurant is newly...

    Mie Pref. Iseshi Asamachou 185-3
This eatery is at the mountain-top look out on the Iseshima Skyline. Their local favorites are Asakuma udon with its deep flavored kombu seaweed and bonito broth and Shima udon with sea lettuce and Isobe age fritters. Items that you can only get there are all available for takeout. It's a great place to stop for a break while you're out for a drive, too. Their shop sells well-known Iseshima sweets and products, and you can enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee or herb tea while taking in the scenery.

Mie Areas

around-area-map

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
