Aichi Pref. Nagoyashi Atsuta-ku Atsutanishimachi 2-5
A garden located in Atsuta Nishi-machi, Atsuta Ward, Nagoya City. Modeled after geographical features in the Chubu region such as Mt. Ontake and the Kiso River, this traditional Japanese excursion garden built around a central pond is one of the largest in the Tokai region. Inside the garden, there is a teahouse built in the sukiya style, and a teahouse cafe which serves matcha powdered green tea, Japanese sweets, and lunch dishes.

    金山駅からのアクセスは文句ありません。施設的には、日本各地にある鄙びた公共ホールといったレベルで、古さは否めないですね。1階席後方でも、そこまでステージが遠くないのは良いところ。

  • Shikemichi
    Travel / Tourism
    Aichi Nagoya-shi Nishi-ku Nagono
"This former castle town merchant district developed alongside the construction of Nagoya Castle in the early Edo period. After a great fire occurred in the area in 1700, the width of the roads was expanded to four ""ken"" (about seven meters) to help prevent the spread of future fires, giving rise to the area's name, which literally means ""four 'ken' road town."" The area's distinctive townscape is comprised of groups of kura storehouses standing on stone basis, rows of merchant homes, and rooftop shrines. During Japan's period of rapid modernization, many of the kura storehouses in the area were demolished, but today those that remain are now being uses as-is to host cafes, restaurants, and bars."

Aichi Main Areas

around-area-map

Aichi is a prefecture of great natural beauty with Nagoya city at its heart, a busy hub home to a labyrinth of underground shops and the 17th-century Nagoya Castle. Castles are easy to find in this history-rich prefecture, but the highlight for history buffs has to be the Museum Meiji-mura, where preserved buildings from the turn of the 20th century are displayed in all their grandeur in an outdoor museum.
