Inside is a wine cellar designed by the owner and sommelier himself, with about 3,000 bottles of wine. All the meals on the menu are exquisite dishes made with authentic French and fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and prepared perfectly to compliment a good glass of wine. This long established udon restaurant located near the tourist spot of Takeshima Island in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture, was founded in 1903. The udon noodles are made with locally sourced flour and kneaded by hand for two days to produce a characteristically chewy texture and great tasting flavor. But what makes the flavor really stand out is the fragrant broth lavishly made with only frigate mackerel bonito. In addition to their regular favorites such as ‘benten’ topped with two extra large tempura king prawns, and ‘ryujin udon’ topped with fried stuff in starchy egg sauce, their Takeshima udon with lots of clams and available only from March through to June, is also very popular.

The fragrant fried tofu in this popular take-out item perfectly matches their secret sauce which perfectly matches the sourness of the ketchup. Aichi Main Areas

around-area-map

Aichi is a prefecture of great natural beauty with Nagoya city at its heart, a busy hub home to a labyrinth of underground shops and the 17th-century Nagoya Castle. Castles are easy to find in this history-rich prefecture, but the highlight for history buffs has to be the Museum Meiji-mura, where preserved buildings from the turn of the 20th century are displayed in all their grandeur in an outdoor museum.
