Aichi Pref. Nishioshi Kamezawachou 480

A library adjoining Tsurushiro Park in Kamezawa-cho, Nishio City. Originally a private library established by Nishio City businessman Yasuke Iwase in 1908, today it is Japan's first library dedicated to old and rare books, and its collection spans some 80 thousand volumes. The library also has a standing exhibit presenting the history of books in Japan and holds special exhibitions as well as a variety of lectures. The Nishio Book Festival is held here at the end of October.

志段味古墳群にあるミュージアムです。名古屋市交通局の一日乗車券の提示で割り引きがあるそうですが、車じゃないと不便な場所で、駐車湯も完備です。志段味古墳群の特徴が紹介されており、出土品などの展示あります。実際の古墳も近く、そのまま歩いて見に行けるのもいいですね。

The center, located in Minaminakanokiri Town, Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, specializes in ceramics and glass art. It was opened in 1999 as a center to develop industries, arts and culture by making full use of the characteristic Seto-ware known as Seto-mono (pottery and porcelain). The Seto Ceramics & Glass Art Center consists of three buildings including the exhibition building with ceramics and glass art gallery, the workshop where visitors can see trainees at work, and the exchange building where pieces of work by craftsmen and trainees are displayed and sold, as well as a cafe. Visitors can also have a go at making their own pottery or glass art.

奥の建物が陶芸やデザイン・ガラス工芸などのアトリエと展示会場、手前の建物がカフェと作品を販売する施設です。アトリエは中に入ることはできませんが作家さんたちの活動を廊下側から拝見するができ、時間が合えばワークショップも行っているそうです。

It also exhibits equipment used for making vinegar, a long lived product.

A museum dedicated to natural gas and energy operated by the Toho Gas company. Focusing on the themes of climate change and energy, the museum contains easy to understand exhibits on the environment and energy. Filled with informational panels and models, visitors can learn about various types of energy, energy amounts, and energy generation methods as well as their effects on the environment. With an advance reservation, visitors can enjoy a session in the experiment lab and watch a movie in the theater hall. The museum can also accommodate school groups and other large tour groups.

普段なかなか行けないのですが、イベントがあるとすごい人が押し寄せます。東海市内の学校でチラシが配られるのでなおさらです。大勢の人を捌けないのは仕方ないかと思いますが、シャトルバスに乗った人が着いたころには人気イベントのチケットが取れなかったり、定時前に車で着いた人も、既にチケットが配られていたため見ることができなかったりと、残念な面があります。

A planetarium adjoining the Toyokawa City Library in Suwa 1 Chome, Toyokawa City. Focusing on the themes of the sun, the Earth, and our environment, the facility holds planetarium shows as well 360-degree recreations of the night sky, videos taken of the aurora borealis in Canada, and other programs. In an adjoining exhibit space, visitors can learn about the stars. The facility also holds events such as stargazing outings and concerts.

いくつになってもプラネタリウムにはロマンを感じ、投影前はワクワクする。ここのプラネタリウムは大人３１０円ととにかく安い。館内はそれほど広くなく定員ｈ１３７人。星が投影されるドームも直径約１５ｍと大きくなないが、座席からドームまでが近く感じられる。混み具合も程ほどなのでゆっくりと観賞できます。

This cultural museum located in Tokoname City is operated by LIXIL Corporation. It features six facilities where visitors can learn the beauty of clay and pottery by experiencing their history and culture. The Tile Museum displays works of tile art from across the world. The Kiln Plaza* features a brick smoke stack and a large coal-fired kiln. Visitors can try their hand at tile art at the Tiling Workshop or making shiny clay balls at the popular Clay Works. The Architectural Terracotta Museum displays decorative works of terracotta from the Taisho to early Showa periods. Finally, the LIXIL Ceramics Lab conveys the spirit of craftsmanship. A craft center dedicated to Seto sometsuke, a form of traditional ceramics originating in Seto. The facility preserves and exhibits an ancient kiln designated a Cultural Property by the city government. Visitors can also view displays of historic Seto sometsuke masterpieces and watch aspiring artisans in training making ceramics. In addition, the facility has an area where visitors can try ceramics painting and a shop which sells pieces crafted by trainees and graduates of the facility's ceramics instruction program.

陶祖まつりの折に、尾張瀬戸駅より新世紀工芸館とこの工芸館を訪ねました。ここでは瀬戸染付を無料で説明されています。どうしても瀬戸は磁器のイメージはありますが、ここでは染付の人材育成もしているようです。

The museum consists of an exhibition space with panels and exhibits covering various environmental themes, a virtual studio where visitors can learn about the environment via large video screens and tablets, and a workshop space where experiments and other themed programs are conducted. Here visitors can learn about the environment from a broad array of perspectives, from the level of daily life to global scale.

Asahi Kogen Genki-Mura Astronomical Observatory Mirasse

Mirasse Astronomical Observatory is located in Genki-Mura in the Aichi Asahi Kogen Quasi-National Park. It contains two telescopes, a computer-controlled 40-centimeter telescope and a 13-centimeter refracting telescope. The Kirameki Viewing Club holds meetings there every Saturday (and on Sundays during three-day weekends) from April to November. Since the meetings begin after sunset, the actual starting time varies. Those who want to participate must apply by 4 p.m. the same day. Individuals and groups can also rent exclusive short-term (30-minute minimum) use of the telescopes.

A museum dedicated to energy which is operated by the Chubu Electric Power company. Situated on 13.6 hectare grounds on the south side of the Hekinan Thermal Power Station, here visitors can have fun while learning about the mechanisms behind the creation of environmentally-conscious power. In the museum building, there are exhibits on the workings of power generation and the Hekinan Thermal Power Station. There's also a Healing Garden area which was designed to serve as a space for community exchange and which contains facilities like a play pond for children, a large grass lawn for relaxing and playing on, and various gardens. In the Eco Park nature watching area, visitors can view wild birds and a variety of other wild animals.

This facility is located in INAX Museums in Tokoname City, which is famous for its pottery. Both the inside and outside of the building are made of Tokoname clay and is characterized by the delicate and sophisticated design technics. They also hold hands-on workshops, including ones making clay pastels and shiny clay balls that are popular with children. Here you can see jazz-related flyers, letters, photos, and a diverse array of other items, and jazz fans from across the country make their way here.
