This plum garden was first cultivated in 1967 for the purpose of growing and selling unripe plums. On the roughly 13 hectare plot of land, about 3,000 plum trees are planted, including Nanko, Kojiro, and Kairyou Uchida plum trees. The peak season is usually from late February to early March. The appearance of the energetically blooming flowers covering the entire mountain in white is grand. There is a hiking trail on the slope of the mountain, so you can take your time strolling through the garden. Additionally, they sell umeboshi (pickled plums), plum jam, and homemade plum jam bread in the garden.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan's largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
