This temple is a part of the Koyasan Shingon Sect temples and its primary object of worship is Shokannon or Avalokitesvara?. The temple was established by Gyoki in 725 AD with the ascension of Emperor Shomu and the current main-hall was rebuilt in 1983. Kannon is known to ward off evil and the temple is famous for their warding dumplings. The harvest festival, which occurs on January 7th, has been designated an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Shizuoka Prefecture.

The Shiseido Corporate Museum is located around five minutes' drive from JR Kakegawa Station on the Tokaido Main Line. The Museum traces the history of Shiseido, which was founded in 1872 as a Western-style pharmacy, and showcases artifacts and materials relating to the advertising used over the years for Shiseido products, which made effective use of the beautiful curving patterns of the Art Nouveau style. The permanent exhibitions are arranged by theme, showing the development over time of Shiseido's product packaging, its advertising posters, and its typefaces, camellia logo and Roman alphabet logo, etc. There is also a CM Theater, where visitors can view Shiseido TV commercials dating from the last 40 years, which reflect the changing times.
