Shizuoka Pref. Hamamatsushi Hamana-ku Mikkabichousakume 47-1 Tomei Highway Highway Hamanako Service Area Restaurant Hall
A restaurant in the Hamanako Service Area on the Tomei Expressway. They offer eel cuisine with ingredients from Lake Hamanako. The unajyu uses one whole Hamanako-grown eel, steamed and then grilled over a charcoal fire for a Kanto-style finish. A delectable dish recommended by Hamanatei is the o-hitsu mabushi, which offers three styles of eating with just one dish.

The lunch boxes you can warm up with heating function are popular, too."

    Shizuoka Hamamatsu-shi Hamana-ku Mikkabicho Tsuzuki 1313-665
A shop directly managed by Katsumi, a shop specializing in eel with multiple shops across the prefecture. They offer a variety of products from carefully selected eel to Hamamatsu souvenirs. They make sure to only use larger-sized, hand-picked eels in their products. They use well water drawn from 100-meters beneath in the deep mountains to completely wash away the characteristic muddy smell associated with eel. As it's not steamed you can enjoy the rich authentic full taste of eel. Across the street you'll find the Mikkabi Interchange location of Katsumi Eel.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
